It’s cross stitch so you don’t put it in a washer, hand wash if you must

How do you read the Embroidery legend so that you know which type of stitch to use?

I haven't started this cross stitch kit yet, however, I am doing a similar one right now, and the assumption is that only the full "X" cross stitch is being used, unlike embroidery or crewel work in which other types stitches are used. The legend is only indicating what color floss (yarn thread) to use.
