Briiliant!
With additional free software you can download off the internet this little gem does all a handheld scanner can do at a fraction of the cost. All I did was to stick the magnetic based aerial you get with this onto my wife's best baking tin (She'll never know) and stuck it halfway up the stairs and I was able to pick up aircraft conversations 50 miles away! Whats not to like? Excellent build quality, I would recommend this to anyone thinking of starting out with SDR radio.

Professional construction in shielded case
I have had the device running and tested in Kubuntu Linux and all appears well. I am still struggling to make it appear as a source in GNURadio , but I will get there! The device is professionally built into an extruded aluminium case for good shielding and heat dissipation. This, together with the enhanced spec., should give good results.

Great hardware, shame about third party software.
Quality for value. Hardware great and excellent supplier. Shame third party SDR software and drivers recommended by manufacturer so problematic. After faffing and failing and chasing forums, the PothosSDR distribution worked first time - well done to them. Don't let it put you off buying this kit.

works great on GNU/Linux !
Perfect for GNU/Linux, GNU radio, gr-gsm, gqrx, osmosdr, etc.don't listen to reviewers who have trouble on ubuntu, don't know how to use it, and leave bad reviews for these devicesit is simple to work with RTL SDR.

Dissapointed performance
As a newcomer to the world of SDR radio, I thought I would check the reviews for the best make. this scored highly and as it came with three antennas so I thought this would be a good buy. the first thing to realise is that its not simply plug and play. I tried three popular SDR software downloads. Cubic didn't work at all, HDSDR wouldn't recognise my sound card, SDR# finally worked but after a lot of trial and error with the settings. The biggest problem is the poor reception with the three supplied antenna. all I can receive is a couple of FM broadcast stations everything else is just a sea of static. I live only a couple of miles from an Airport, If I tune into the tower I can get the occasional garbled speech but its so distorted and swamped in noise that I can't make out what anyone is saying.Looking on the internet for suggestions, most reviewers advise a better antenna. I sent off for a Moonraker Skyscan antenna but when it arrived I discovered that the BNC plug on the lead won't fit the socket on the sdr dongle. so I now need to send off for an adaptor. Other suggestions include filters and preamplifiers but that's just more expense with no guaranteed improvementsAll in all if the idea of an SDR dongle is to provide an inexpensive, portable and simple to use introduction to the world of shortwave listening then I'm afraid it's failed.
