Does what it’s supposed to
I really wanted the sturdier more expensive one but decided to go cheaper. It may not last long but it works great. Temp was consistent.

It's the Real Deal
At first I was a little miffed but when you remove the air pan you see this also retards a flame flare up from scorching the meat. Ok, so what's the difference bewteen this and a grate - well - it's cool and the air flow, it retains heat.

Initial thoughts are good.
Arrived a day early, so that's a plus. The price is good, especially if you compare to other heat deflectors / low and slow devices. I like the fact that it's metal too. There is much better heat transfer compared to a stone. There are several uses for this on my Master Touch. I have the Only Fire Multipurpose Rotisserie Ring with the pizza oven stuff. People have complained of uneven heating... No actual roof on the oven.Putting my extra 22 inch grate with some foil and the Fire Dial on the grate tabs of the ring will make a dandy roof for the pizza oven. Saw a guy do this with a cast iron skillet and aluminum foil.. The Fire Dial and aluminum foil will work better I think and probably cheaper. You can also put the firedial on a grate and cook directly on it. Looking forward to some smoke fried bacon. I think that unlike the Slow & Sear there are several uses on my kettle and it's cheaper to boot. I've not cooked with it yet, so I can only give it 4 stars at this point for the build quality, quick delivery, and the cool concept. There is one down side that I didn't like. This version of the Fire Dial for the Weber Kettle sits directly on the bowl if you don't have another way to use it. I worried about the porcelain coating damaged by the metal. Luckily I have a solution. I have a spare 22 inch cooking grate laying around, so I put it in upside down and laid the Fire Dial on it. The handles are in the way right side up. I'll update the review after a few cooks to give it a fair trial and post the results.

Works great with the smoker attachment.
This Baffle Plate along with the smoking ring extender turns the Weber 22 inch grill as a very good smoker.

Designed and made in USA!!
This is a great product and an extremely reasonable price. All the other products which do something similar or twice the price of this thing and I don't see that they would be made any better. What this allows you to do is fill up the entire bottom of your Weber Kettle's Charcoal Grate with Charcoal, pour lit Charcoal from your Charcoal Chimneys (I use 2) on top wait a few minutes for all your Charcoal to light before putting the Fire 🔥 Dial over it. Then you have the entire surface of your Cooking Grate usable instead of one side or down the middle. My Weber kettle held a level 350° for more than 6 hours without fluctuating one degree using the fire dial amazing. Still had plenty of charcoal for next time when I shut the grill down. Slow & Sear allows you to cook on one side of your Grate Weber's Charcoal Baskets allow you to cook down the middle of your Cooking Grate but this allows you to cook anywhere on the Cooking Grate using the entire surface. A truly great product much cheaper than the two I mentioned.

About as substantial as a sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil.
I received this and was excited to replace the water pan in my 22" WSM. Upon picking up the box, I was immediately disappointed. It had absolutely no weight to it.The problem here is that this thing is so thin, it will warp when exposed to heat and cooling cycles. It's not substantial enough. Certainly not for the price. It also has no thermal mass which will make temperature regulation much more difficult and inconsistent than the factory water pan in the smoker. This is not an "upgrade".Sent it back. Something of this purpose should be 1/8 inch thick - at least. Think about it like cast iron pans... They're heavy because they're substantial. They need to be. That's what makes them great. The thermal mass makes for a nice uniform temperature that they maintain. They're built like tanks. This thing is marginally thicker than a sheet of aluminum foil. No way this holds up to repeated heating/cooling, and sure enough, read some of the poor reviews, and users are complaining about warping after only a few uses. Well I decided, I'm going to use it, and be out the loot for something that will fail in the near future. I sent it back for a refund - as defective, which IMHO - it is.Save your money and get something substantial. Great idea... Poor implementation and execution. Make it at least 1/8th inch thick, with a 1/4 being ideal, and now you've got my attention. I'll pay more for it if it's done right. I understand the materials have a cost. But I will not pay for something that will disappoint.Too bad, wanted to support an American company.
