X is for excellent. A very partial review.
I wish I could give this 10 stars, this is a very biased review so if you are looking for an impartial one, do not read any further. I have loved this show from the beginning. When I used to watch this on tv every week I dreaded the end credits knowing I had wait a whole week for the next one, so to be honest unless this was terrible I would have loved it. Everything a fan looks for is here, from agent Skinner,to the basement office with the 'I want to believe' poster, to the smoking man, just brilliant, plus the Roswell scenes and with a healthy scattering of aliens and UFOs. So much fun ! Pure escapism !This show has become iconic and inspired so many monster of the week wannabes, but there is only one X in X Files. This is very much a tongue in cheek mini series, I loved the episodes that continue the mythology regarding the conspiracy, but for me the stand out episode was 'Mulder and Scully meet the Were-Monster'. This is very funny and shows the writers are still able to create original and entertaining storylines, and this series shows what made this programme a hit the first time around.I really hope there are more on the way, I watched all of these back to back including the ones with commentary, and was very sad to reach the end. Did I mention how much I love this show.

It's enjoyable but...
Mulder and Scully. Together. As any self-respecting X-Files fan would have it. But boy does this revival have some issues. The show picks up with our two characters logically where they would be post-I want to believe. Whilst it's great to see our characters together as if they had never left, it is disappointing they try to throw the past 9 seasons of built up mythology out the window and pass it off as a new mythology. I understand that picking up from 9 seasons of story might be a worry, particularly because they are trying to attract new fans, and that can be difficult when they feel they need to go and watch 9 years worth of a show to understand. But I get the impression this new mythology was done out of laziness (The mythology is brought back more in season 11, ditching this lazy explanation for another). In addition to this slap in the face to fans, we also don't get to see Doggett or Reyes. I understand why they were not brought back as Mulder and Scully are the faces of the x files. But those 2 characters were still important. (Reyes appears in Season 11 but I have issue with that in itself). The "My Struggle" episodes were interesting and the finale definitely sets the show up for a spectacular 11th season with William returning, a beloved character dying and the world in peril. Some further episodes are interesting but a lot of the monster of the week episodes are poor. Einstein and Miller are interesting and funny reflections of Mulder and Scully but whilst great recurring characters, they definitely could not support a show if that was future plans.

Real X Files - series 10
The first X Files series since Series 9, and it is Scully and Mulder together again. 6 episodes in the style of the originals. The only real difference is that Scully is more open to the impossible than Mulder is.This is nostalgic but really well written and a worthwhile addition to your collection. This isn't just a set of scripts thrown together for old times sake, but a genuine attempt to take you back to the originals.Lots of special features too1

Worth it for completists, and the Darrin Morgan episode
These six episodes are not the show's best by far. There are gleamers of greatness here and there, but those come mostly from the standalone episodes. The conspiracy has become so convoluted at this point that the "danger" has become a joke. It almost doesn't matter what the story is doing anymore, if you know anything about this show, you know you're not gonna get any resolution at the end. Having said that, it's nice to have these characters back, even if they're not doing their best work, and the Darrin Morgan episode is worth your time and money.

The best of the spin offs
I had never managed to gather together the complete set of X-files and I always seemed to miss the box sets coming onto offer.... this time I didn't, I bit the bullet and bought the lot. No regrets at all. The series (11 series + extras) is just as captivating as it was when I was trying to remember to record episodes when it was running on live TV in Germany.A few episodes were a bit weak and the alien abduction starts to become a bit unbelievable but still entertaining. Perhaps the viewer profile is different in the USA to Europe.Worth the investment...go on do it!

Very pleased!
Another great series of the X-files!I was worried it wouldn't be as good as the originals but this series lived up to the originals. Some episodes are quite dark but Scully and Mulder do bring some humour too!The DVD came very quickly and is great value for money!I would definitely recommend to anybody who has seen any of the original series' or somebody looking for something interesting to watch who enjoys the supernatural/sci-fi.

I love the X-Files so I just had to have this one as well. Not as exciting as the original series but good enough to watch a few times I think.
