Different and entertaining!
This is an awesome read if you are tired of the OP main characters who you often ask “how did they make it this far in life being this stupid?!” Maud uses past experiences, common sense, and planning to achieve her goals. While she is powerful, she is also realistic in that she has weaknesses, some of which she finds out the hard way. Her goal is simple, to be left alone. I find her sense of humor and thought process to be refreshing and I look forward to the next book.

Unique and fun story but...
...But the MC is an idiot. She's more interested in flowers, cloth, and string than doing what she needs to in order to survive. Additionally all lore, God's, death, magic, it's just glanced over, not even touched on. Like, oh this is a thing, it's incredibly interesting, but we're not going to explore it or be interested in it. She'd rather make a ghost flower garden. Because that makes perfect logical sense. The MC is very unlikable as well. She goes from being a loner hedgewitch, to full on murderhobo, to the point she doesn't even raise her dead mother for more than 1 minute before sending her back to death. Doesn't care for family, has no friends, just a cat, 2 very Nordic crows, and her garden.Necromancer can answer all questions, author makes him an unreasonable dirtbag so he's left out. Knight that tried to do the right thing? Conveniently forgotten. Angry mobs showing up just 8 hours later despite massive distance between towns? No problem. The plot armor is thick here folks. The theme, plot, and MC background are entirely unique, and easily had the potential to be a 5 star book. It had a solid foundation, but the author used shoddy craftsmanship to wall the thing up, which is a shame. It's worth reading, and worth the money, but don't go in expecting triple A quality.Also... Fairly certain the author is Canadian due to the obvious fear of wright geese.

Fun and clever
A friend recommended this book and I eagerly devoured it and await its sequel to be released! The book is well-written with a very realistic main character, providing the reader her thought processes along with her own (mis)adventures as a lich. There's genuine enthusiasm behind her interest in fabric, siege weaponry, and being the ultimate expression of evil.Well constructed characters and settings are presented, with the ending offering a glimpse of the wider world. My only criticism is there were a couple (literally, two) points where I had to re-read a few times to grasp the intent of what they were meant to convey. The book lacking a professional editor shows here and there, but the author is clearly a fairly experienced writer used to self-editing so this very rarely detracts from the experience.I look forward to seeing the other works from the author, and will happily support their future releases!

Creative, a little spooky, love the cat
I came for the cat (Jenkins) and stayed for the humor. A little gory for my taste, but well written. Great cast of characters.

Very meh
I try not to compare the books I review with other books I've reviewed (at least the more obscure ones) because I never know whether or not the person who reads this might the books that I'm referencing, or even if they've ever reviewed my books at all. But I can't with this one. It shares so much DNA with the Vigor Mortis books that it's hard for me to write a review of the book on its own merits and not just say 'Read Vigor Mortis instead, it's the same thing but better.' Having said that, read Vigor Mortis instead, it's the same thing but better. Is this book that bad, though? Not really. This is about as two and a half star book as you can get. It's rather run of the mill for its premise and I get that half the time it's going for a kind of tongue in cheek tone, but it kind of misses the mark for me. There were also a few things I wanted to see out of this book, but found it was absent. An initial refusal to accept ones unlife and gradual acceptance of it. An awareness that there might need to be a shift of morality in order to continue to exist as you are. I didn't really get any of that. Maud just wakes up a lich, and is like, 'cool, lets go raise some dead.' from page 1. Other than that the book is just okay. Like I said. Two and a half stars.

Not bad
It seems like there's a lot of potential here, for it most certainly isn't terrible in me opinion; I just prefer the LitRPG's these days. Definitely worth the read, though. Caught wind of this series from a shout out over on RoyalRoad, from the author of "Azarinth Healer". Definitely didn't disappoint.I'll definitely be reading and listening to the next books after this

Another waky, quacky, first-person, weird Necromancer trope. But well worth the laughs.
Honestly its been a minute since I read this book but I honestly can say I would not mind picking it up again. It's full of fun characters, situational comedy, just enough creepy-crawlies and scary entities to be recognized for the necromancer trope, and a few moments of empathy. The main character is at the same moment ridiculous and also close enough to be the reader. Loves and hates and regrets and pesky neighbors that gossip behind your back! =)All this and more. It was a fun read the first go around and I happily await what the author will come up with next. Well wishes and take care dear author. Thank you for a wonderful journey.
