A Traveler's Must-Have: Tractive GPS Dog Collars Provide Unbeatable Peace of Mind
A Traveler's Must-Have: Tractive GPS Dog Collars Provide Unbeatable Peace of Mind As the owner of two adventurous dogs and a frequent traveler across the U.S. East Coast, reliability is non-negotiable when it comes to pet safety. I've been using Tractive GPS collars—one purchased three years ago and the other two years ago—and they have proven to be the single most important tool for ensuring my dogs' safety, whether we are home or on the road. The core function of these devices is location, and Tractive delivers consistently. The peace of mind knowing that if the dogs somehow slip out of the car during a rest stop or wander from an unfamiliar vacation rental, I can locate them instantly, is invaluable. Even when we're deep in wooded areas where my phone signal struggles, the Tractive tracking signal has always come through, offering reliable real-time updates. Dependability and Durability The longevity of these devices speaks volumes about their quality. Both units are over two years old and still perform flawlessly. The battery life is strong, holding a charge well enough that managing two collars is never a burden. Equally impressive is the waterproofing. My dogs love the water, and we spend plenty of time near the ocean and in pools. The Tractive devices handle salt water, fresh water, and splashes without a single issue, proving they are truly adventure-proof (IP68 rated). I never have to worry about removing them before a swim. The App: A Crucial Companion The accompanying Tractive app is intuitive and robust. It's especially useful when traveling, but provides daily value even when we are home. The ability to quickly check the map, set up Virtual Fences for new locations, and monitor activity is seamless. This feature has also been fantastic for verifying that our pets are being well-cared for by a sitter while we're away. A quick glance at the app confirms they are active and secure within their safe zone. In summary, Tractive GPS collars are an essential investment for any pet owner, especially those who travel frequently or have active, adventurous dogs. The combination of reliable signal, excellent battery life, true waterproofing, and a user-friendly app makes this the best long-term safety solution on the market.

Awesome tracker and interface
I have been using teactive for about 2 years now and it works awesomely. I have an escape artist dog who loves to run and whenever she get out running I don't even have to chase her. I just get in my car and track her down. The tracker gives a location until you get close and it then connects to Bluetooth and gives a real specific location. This tracker has never failed me and has not only saved my doggie from traffic due to finding her quickly, but it has also given me piece of mind. I have used other trackers and was unhappy with the interface or it did not provide a specific location. Tractive is the best on the market in my opinion.

Hound Approved!
Does a great job overall at tracking my hounds. I will say that I recently found out that it doesn't work when my hound is tunneling underground, but that's to be expected in a 10+ foot long tunnel, and is only a problem if you have a tunneling dog 🙄. Buildings and heavy tree cover in the summer can cause issues with connectivity, but that's also understandable when you live in the woods. I live in the middle of nowhere with very little to no cell reception, yet I can still track my dogs all over our property (35 acres), at our cabin on the lake, and at my parents farm in Northern Minnesota (also in the middle of nowhere). We do a lot of ice fishing and we're able to track them easily on and around the frozen lake. Sometimes if it's really cold and we're outside for a while, the extreme temp will cause the tracker to glitch, but I'm talking below -10°F. Once, my dog's collar fell off of her while she was wrestling with her brother in a blizzard on the lake, and I was able to find it (with the tracker on it) the next morning, even though the battery had died overnight. Since it hadn't moved after it fell off, its last location was saved and I was able to easily retrieve it using the app. I had to dig in the snow for it a little bit, but the location was accurate and I was able to find it relatively quickly. One of my dogs likes to pull the other by the collar and frequent bites the tracker, but it keeps working, which I find very impressive. We live off a busy highway, the driveway is about 1/4 mile long, and the "home" zone and "no go" zones with their alerts have helped us keep the dogs off the road and helps keep them alive. They're really good at knowing not to go that direction, but hound's noses tend to lead them astray, especially if there's roadkill involved. It definitely gives me peace of mind knowing that I'll be alerted almost immediately if they've wandered too far in that direction. I've been using the old version of the tracker for a little over a year, and now I've had this version for about a month and the battery life on this version is awesome. It's been lasting several days at a time, whereas we were having to charge the old version almost every day. The new version is larger than the old one, but doesn't seem to bother the dogs at all.

GREAT DEVICE & SAFE SYSTEM FOR MY FUR BABY ,but lousy collar !
Love the Safety on this ..Nothing will work until the buttons on the remote are pushed !! I do like the correcting System,we have had this for 6 months now .I don’t believe in leaving a review when you just review something ! Really, how can you ? Ok ,I got the 2 dog collar system … They recommend Three Different Stages for training ..only if you need them ..The first stage .. You have different beep variations as they recommend to start as a warning when your pet does something wrong, you can adjust the different levels on each setting as how strong you need it for your pet to respond Then if your pet doesn’t listen to the beeping ,they recommend, the next step be the vibrations..with also different levels ,but doesn’t hurt them … The Third is the Shock ,,they also send rubber caps to cover the metal probes,so it doesn’t hurt them as much ,but I like you don’t have to shock them.if choose not to use these setting !! All these choices are made only by the master ,none are automatically gonna to do anything to your pet ,until a human presses a button on the remote control !! Plus I’m a little hard at seeing ,and I can clearly see and know what I’m doing with this remote ,that’s A Winner for me. Now ,it’s getting to the point where all I have to do is show them the remote ,and they listen !! Also I have had to get on Amazon ,and order a replacement remote that disappeared and the instructions is with the ordering details on here ,so no need for waiting on long phone calls ,for customer service ..I really like this company has replacements for all the devices needs ,and I don’t have to,order the whole package again ,just because I lost the charger … I still recommend the system ,and hope the company would read about what we ask for the upgrade the collar as our dogs don’t need to wear two collars,it’s just ;;to much weight on their neck We had to replace our collar ,because our puppy outgrew the original, only because our fault ,as my husband cut it short,so don’t do what we did .Though I don’t like this band though ,we are always having to tighten it up ,it doesn’t have a clip w/ holes to keep it in place in the size you want ,nor does it have a leash clip Qhich means your puppy or dog has to have 2 collars at the same time !! I don’t like that at all !! So just a quick recap. Though I do like the correcting System,it works very well,You have different beeps ,first stage then vibrations the second ,the third is shock ,of course is only by your choice All these choices are made only by the master ,none are automatic ,I can see it well ,,that’s what I like most my Fur baby is safe !! I recommend the system .I left one star off because of always having to tighten up the collar and that it has no clip for a leash .This should be made for dogs so they don’t have to wear multiple collars. So I’m hoping the company hears our request and upgrades the collar for our Lovable Fur Family soon and make this a Five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Training Device !! I will update my review if anything changes.Have a Good Day with all Dogs !!

Essential product for your furry family member!
We absolutely love tractive. It's a must have along with a chip and tags. A chip is good however if you're Dog or cat decides to wander off and somebody decides to take your furry friend in then you're at the mercy of somebody doing their due diligence but with tractive you can chase them down right away and get them as soon as possible and keep them away from danger!!! There are other benefits to having it as well such as the health portion and the activity monitoring. The price is really inexpensive compared to the peace of mind you get! My wife would be devastated if something would ever happene to Buddy if he got away and he does like to take off. (He's just a puppy).. I also have it set up so other family members can also monitor his whereabouts if needed. The dog XL unit battery is really good as long as you have it connected to Wi-Fi in the safe Zone the battery lasts over a month however.. If it's not connected to Wi-Fi the battery will last maybe 2 weeks so keep that in mind but charging is straightforward pretty quick. The use of this app is also straightforward and continues to get better, it's pretty accurate on GPS however... If you wanted to track the unit within a safe Zone while its connected to Wi-Fi you are out of luck. If the Wi-Fi is on you would have to shut the Wi-Fi off to get the device to come online. I ran into an issue where buddy slipped out of his collar and his tractive was somewhere in the yard but not outside the "safe zone" I was able to successfully locate it using the Bluetooth range "radar" function however I couldn't connect to it until I was close enough so I had to walk around aimlessly in the yard until I finally connected it once I connected it it was really easy to find. In this case I didn't need to turn my Wi-Fi off but if I was having more issues that would have been my next step Do keep in mind once you're furry friend leaves the safe Zone it takes about a minute or so for the notification to pop up in the tracker to be online. I don't see that is an issue although it makes sense the tracker has to wake up out of power saving mode and then connect to a cellular network and GPS satellites, it's a process that has never failed us! These are one of those things that you will regret one day if you don't get it. It's essential!!!

Best Live pet tracker
Tractive XL is perfect for tracking my dog. The only problem is the knobs that hold the device on the collar have broken off but they replace his unit everytime. So I highly recommend this everyone that has pets! Size is perfect for my dog. There is different sizes. It has a light for at nite u can turn on. Easy to use. The weight isn't that much like I said there is different sizes. And it has sound that can be turned on to let ur furry friend know its time to come home. I love this tracker and will always use it.

Great GPS and Amazing health tracker
I’ve had the tractive XL for about 9months now and I love it. My Labrador retriever wears it 24/7 and it’s like it wasn’t there. The GPS works well, I’ve had to track him once after my dog started chasing a rabbit and the live feature was very precise and responsive. It alerts you when your dog leaves the “home” perimeter that you can set (either a circle or multiple points) as a virtual fence. I have tracked my dog from across the globe and even took him abroad and it worked flawlessly. The battery life is excellent, I decided to go for the XL for that reason and it was WORTH IT. I charge this thing maybe once a month and that’s it. The battery saving feature when connected to wifi works great. As for the health tracking, I love it , you get to see how many active minutes your dog gets everyday and you can set goals and compete worldwide with all the other tractive users. It also tracks sleeps and rest and it gives you a good idea of how well your dog is doing. It’s like wearing a Garmin or Apple Watch but for your dog. As far as solidity, it’s a solid little box, my dog has chewed on it and it held up just fine. A little tip: if your dog is super active like mine and loves to run and roll around I would put a zip tie around the collar and the GPS just to make sure it doesn’t come off as the little rubber holder tends to fall off from time to time. But if you have a calm dog that shouldn’t be an issue. Over all I love this product and would definitely recommend anyone with a dog to get one.

Would be 5 star with one critical software update
The Tractive XL is an excellent product with a great website containing in depth instructions for Tractive features. Virtrual fences work great and can be set to any size using the hexagon option. Tracking can also be done on the web which is valuable to people like me who spend a large portion of their day on the computer. I upgraded to the XL model to get more battery life for live tracking since my dog spends a lot of time outside in our unfenced yard adjacent to a busy street. Live tracking is accurate enough and seems to be limited only by the accuracy of standard GPS technology. Now we come to the one significant software limitation that can put your dog's life in danger. Tractive uses a concept called "Power savings zone" to extend battery life. The way this works is to associate the tracker with your home WiFi signal. When the tracker can detect this signal it considers the dog to be in a power savings zone and will not permit live tracking period. This does save considerable battery power. The problem with this concept is that modern WiFi signals can be detected at substantial distance. Although I have a one acre yard the power savings zone extends close to 200 feet which includes the middle of a busy street. To make matters worse it takes the tracker one to two minutes to wake up and detect that the dog has left the power savings zone before live tracking is even possible. There is obviously a very simple fix for this problem: Permit live tracking on demand by the user at any time. This would require only a minor software update and I have made this request to Tractive customer service, so far without positive results. To be fair, using a power savings zone is not mandatory but it means you would have to power on the tracker every time the dog goes outside and power down when the comes in, a major inconvenience just to save battery power. As such I have to deduct two stars until this issue is fixed. In every other respect Tractive XL is a five star product for my situation.
