I've received no compensation of any kind for this review.Ever since learning that non-organic beans in the United States are now treated with dessicants, I will only eat organic beans. These beans were my first organic purchase.Upon unsealing the bucket I found clean beans packed with an oxygen absorber. I don't know how long that setup will keep a sealed bucket of beans fresh, but I plan to use them up within a year.The beans are faintly dusty, as I expect with natural beans from a field. Just a quick rinse in a strainer took care of that. I found no rocks or debris of any kind. Maybe three pale beans out of 1-1/2 cups.I put the rinsed beans in my pressure cooker with 6 cups of water to soak overnight. Then I cooked them in the soaking water at high pressure for 5 minutes, allowing the pressure to reduce naturally.The results are the best black beans I've ever had! They cooked up tender with a perfect texture, and they are delicious. I'm going to buy another bucket right now.

My beans arrived loose in the bucket; the description had said they would come in a resealable bag, there wasn’t even an oxygenater bag inside. The bucket was 2/3 full & the rest was air pushing the lid up! I have no idea how long these beans have been sitting in this bucket.
