Love this film - starts a great collection. Keeps you thinking and is great to watch over and over.Just enough action and is well thought through!

This is basically Die Hard dialled up to a 1000, after terrorists invade the White House and take the President hostage. A lone former secret service agent manages to get inside during the initial attack and begins to take them down.It's a simple premise that works at a basic level and has reasonably tense levels of drama, with a devastating endgame to the terrorists plot. Whilst the action is lean, and never utterly ludicrous, it does very occasionally veer into needlessly dumb things, and cliches like arrogantly stupid military personnel screwing up the hero's plans, to prolong the story.Yes, if you are adamant that everything must be watertight and supremely well-thought out, then you can pick holes in it. If you can just sit back and enjoy the ride, then for the most part it is a pacey exciting romp with a likeable lead actor in Gerard Butler and very good support from actors such as Morgan Freeman.One mild downside is that the CGI special effects are not quite as believable as they are in films from 2023, due to the film being a few years old by now, but they get the job done. Other than that it was about what I expected. It doesn't claim to be a clever movie and to a certain extent I don't think this genre really needs to be.It just has to entertain, and have a villain you look forward to seeing get their come-uppance, and you get that here. The story has high enough stakes to be compelling and the action is visceral and tightly filmed. It may not compare to Die Hard for the wise-cracking everyman hero of John McClane, but Gerard is charismatic and physically believable as someone you end up rooting for.
