Works great

This is a great motor, purchased to replace a motor after my uncle hit a stump and bent the shaft. Runs great, and starts great. All holes matched perfect. Could not be happier.

Engine arrived as advertised but when I prepared to bolt the new engine to my old mower deck I discovered the mounting holes are not threaded. (Apparently Briggs drills holes but doesn’t tap them.) What should have been an easy engine swap turned out to be a bit more involved. Otherwise, the engine runs well without any issues.

This has a brake. Which if you are using it on a lawn mower that had a brake handle and cables then not a problem. I'm using it on a 15 year old roto tiller so the brake needed to go; which is easy enough to remove. Except the brake is also part of the ignition grounding circuit and I needed to install a grounding switch for run / stop. Which now that is mounted by the controls is actually nicer.The plus is its a Briggs & Stratton and only $200 so not to expensive, and I will be able to buy some parts for this in the future if needed. No real negatives as I knew I would need to get a new pulley and do something with the brake.

fantastic buy takes place on standard 5.5 Briggs L head walk behind trimmer it doesn't need cast iron flywheel the overhead valve replacement starts just fine no jerking back on pull cord had to up rpm to 3800 to handle 150 gauge string the shipping was absolutely wonderful very fast had to tap bolt holes on sump to 3/8 16 starts without primingremove the blade brake spring to make shutoff work properly runs constant speed

The name speaks for itself. You can keep your electric crap and battery operated crap there's nothing like a Briggs & Stratton
