Nice little background radio
I've started getting more into radio since moving out and living alone, I wanted a nice battery powered radio to use in my kitchen. This is a very nice looking radio, and I'm a huge fan of how simple and easy the user interface is. The build quality feels solid, all the buttons are decent quality. Only thing I don't like is how the battery cover is very hard to open once batteries are installed. The radio reception is excellent, haven't had any issues with finding stations or dropping out. Battery life with decent rechargables (2500mAh) is about a week of usage (4 hours daily). I saw some reviewers complaing about this - but compared to bluetooth speakers I have which need charging every few days I'm more than happy with this battery life. Audio quality is... okay. I wouldn't go quite as far to call it tinnny but it's definitely lo-fi and devoid of bass. It's still servicable (and I was still dancing in my kitchen to this radio!), but it was this aspect that made me upgrade to the Roberts Rambler Uno which is a similar size but night and day difference in terms of audio quality. But that's to be expected when the Rambler Uno is over double the price (£110). I still really love this radio, but it's become my "background" radio now I have on in bed or when I'm at my computer which I think it's perfect for. For the audio quality you get I think the RRP of £50 (I paid £45) is too steep, but at the time of writing this review it's on sale on Amazon for £30 which I think is a perfect price, considering it's still a very nicely designed radio with a well thought out user interface.

Lovely radio to use
The said item for use and durability is very good with excellent performance whilst using Bluetooth connectivity all the features for ease of use with very good volume for a small radio.

Absolute rubbish
It is hard to believe this is a Roberts product, a company that still has a Royal Warrant. This is a small, portable radio with DAB and FM that is badly-made (buttons do not respond properly) and on which we could only receive six BBC stations on DAB, and only BBCR2 on FM. We tried the unit in various locations, both in rural areas and on the outskirts of London. There were a few more FM options, but no commercial options on DAB at all. The receiver was simply too weak. Prices have just gone up and I would advise users to give this useless product a wide berth.

It’s ok for the price but there’s better options
Bought a bunch of dab radios to see which was best: this Play 11, a Roberts Rambler Mini, Roberts Petite, VQ Dexter, & a Sony (can’t recall the convoluted model number). (The Petite is easily the best sounding of them all, btw, although it’s twice the price of the Play 11.) The Play 11 has a decent user interface, looks ok with its fabric covering, but sound quality is only describable as ‘ok’. It’s a smallish kitchen-radio type of thing and would be ok sat in the corner of a kitchen but do not expect to be wowed by its audio performance. Speech sounds pretty good on it but it struggles with music. It’s just a small box with a single speaker at the lower end range of Roberts radios. The Roberts Revival Mini is, in my opinion a better choice than the Play 11: it looks much nicer imho, and it sounds better and it has a built-in usb C rechargeable battery vs the 4 AA batteries required to make the Play 11 portable. The Rambler Mini is £30 more, but I’d go for the Rambler Mini over this Play 11 any day.

Have many DAB+ radios from Sony, Roberts and Panasonic. This little radio has the quickest startup time and doesn't need it's aerial up unlike all the Panasonic's and Sony's, none of my Roberts radios do but others are way more expensive. (I live in a fringe reception area and it found all stations) This is a small radio so don't expect huge sound but it is perfectly adequate. The USB C power cord is a really handy and I hope all manufacturers take this path. It is a shame that it doesn't have the ability to charge rechargeable batteries in the unit but I knew that before purchasing. At time of writing I could not find any reviews, so FIRST! EDIT: This radio chews the batteries MUCH faster than Sonys that also use 4AA batteries.

Sehr guter dab+ Empfang. Verarbeitung und Gehäusematerial ist top. Gerät ist sehr handlich, für Terrasse oder Mitnahme im Rucksack bei Wanderungen ideal. Klangqualität ist akzeptabel für seinen Zweck.
