in the box I have a red blk wht and ground wires. Do I ignore the neutral?

Per code red and black are "hot", white is neutral, and green or bare is the safety ground. The R10 outlet does not use neutral so the white would normally be capped off in the outlet box. But double, triple check that red and black are the two hot wires (120 V to ground). Rather than risk electrocuting yourself it may be better to have an electrician wire it for you. Cheap insurance.

What color wires go where?

There are 2 hot connections and a ground. It doesn't matter which hot lead is connected to which hot terminal. Wire color could vary depending on how things are wired from your fuse box. If you are unsure of how to connect this product call a certified electrician. 240 volts can kill you.

Can I use this on a 240 volt line?

Yes, this was designed for 220-250 volts

What box is recommended with this outlet? I would like to put two of these side by side in a single box if that is possible. I have two machines

If it was me, I would use two 4" square boxes next to each other with these mounted to Mulberry covers. You will be feeding these with #10's so the boxes get small fast. They need to be separate circuits anyway, so separate boxes means you can work on one without killing the other and still be within NFPA 70E.
