I love the music of the harpsichord - a good addition to my library of harpsichord CDs.

Is classical music modern?
These works and their performance made me think again about a general problem of arts: Have classic works of art of past centuries anything to say to contemporary people with contemporary needs except the scholars? In music the answer is simple, because the creation of music experience needs performers who are contemporary people who live among as. This does not happen with literature for example. So the music has reference to the past as well as contemporary age thanks to its performance. The performance of these quintets proves it on its own way. When I first listened to them, the sound of the ensemble looked strange to me since I was used to the modern European style of performing old music. It was only when I read in the booklet that the Largo of the third quintet "conjures the image of Lurch, the somber-faced butler of television's "Addams Family", falling in love and expressing his feelings at his chosen instrument: the harpsichord" that I was able to understand the performance in depth. The simple explanation of the "strange" performance is that these people are Americans and in their culture cinema has a great role. So these people took these forgotten masterpieces and performed them in a way that reflects their own cultural heritage. The final result is a masterpiece which also proves the modernity of classical music. Congratulations guys!!
