Q: Is this item a double sided stick ? Someone in another response said it was not and I thought it was supposed to be double sided... yes or no ?

Yes, this one is double-sided fusible web, just as it states on the package. You peal one protective side off the web, stick it to the back side of your applique,then peal the other side off and place it on your base fabric. You can pick it up and move it around until you get it to the exact position you want it, then iron it for a permanent bond. I trim this down to 8 1/2 x 11 so that it will fit in my printer/copier and either print or copy my design onto it. The ink on the gridded paper does not smear or smudge easily, as some other brands do.

Q: How does this sew through. Using Lite EZ seam II and it gums up my needle

Lite EZ Steam II is manufactured by the Pellon Company and has poor reviews. Steam-A-Seam 2 by the Warm Company has excellent reviews and does not gum up the needle.I just started using it for quilting appliques and there was no gumming at all.

Q: Could this be used to make masks?

Nothing I have read says batting makes a good filter, it would not stop an airborne virus and I think it would be hot. I have been told the face masks are hot when made of 2 layers of quilting cotton, batting would be like wrapping a blanket around your face. I have read that non-woven interfacing is good to use in the masks as a filter. I have been using iron-in interfacing, 2 layers. I don't have proof that it works, but I don't think it could hurt.

I don't think it would be invisible on light fabric. There are hem tapes out there that might work better than SAS2. Seems like there is one that is either SAS2 or Heat n Bond,(hem tape) and that would be more forgiving on light fabrics, in my opinion.
