Chef Yotam Ottolenghi continues his culinary journey to four of the Mediterranean s most beautiful islands (Corsica , Mallorca, Crete and Sardinia) to explore the flavours and secrets of these culinary jewels.Yotam travels to the stunning French island of Corsica. where he discovers how the lush green landscape, called the maquis, flavours and infuses the food, from charcuterie and olive oil to cheese and honey. Here he meets some of the island s most celebrated chefs and food producers and discovers what akes the food uniquely Corsican. In Mallorca, Yotam searches for authentic local cuisine, discovering wonderful ingredients including ruby red prawns- the star ingredient in his deconstructed paella. Leaving the busy beach resorts behind he heads inland and discovers a wonderful larder of local ingredients, including roast suckling pig slow-cooked in a bread oven; tomatoes sweetened on the vine; and oranges ripened in the island sun.Yotam visits Crete to explore its rich and complex culinary history. In the ancient capital of Heraklion, he makes a variation of the Cretan meze dakos, a marriage of tomatoes, crumbled feta, olives and oregano. And deep into the Cretan heartland he prepares a feast of spit-roasted pork souvlaki, served with his twist on tzatziki.Yotam travels to Sardinia to explore the island s unique food traditions and flavours. In the beautiful fishing port of Bosa,he cooks one of the Mediterranean s greatest gifts: freshly caught lobster roasted on an open fire. Leaving the coast behind he travels deep into Sardinia s rugged heartland, to share a meal of pit-roasted lamb and a salad of figs and roasted radicchio, with three generations of shepherds.

Mediterranean food and cultures are excellent
Ottolenghi has a good sense of humour whilst being an excellent chef. He appreciates the people and their skills and is not scared to accept that he is not necessarily as proficient in some areas such a bread baking which the older ladies of the villages have been doing for many years.

A feast of colours and flavours
It's a feast of colours, stunning places, exquisite landscapes and delicious recipes. Even if you're not much fond of cooking, it's worth while. However, if you're addicted to cooking like me, you'll enjoy it most. Ottolenghi is really good at combining flavours and ingredients to achieve great food. It's a pity this dvd contains only four episodes. It could also show his travels to Tunisia, Turkey, Israel and Morocco as seen on TV.

very good series
First time I've watched the chef and thought he came over really personable, well explained recipes and good background to the countries shown.

Good content; poor DVD quality
I originally recorded this onto my PVR off air when it was broadcast on More4, and ordered this DVD as I wanted to keep the programme, but also needed to free space on my PVR.Ottolenghi is an engaging and enthusiastic food tourist through Corsica, Mallorca, Crete and Sardinia, but he's let down by the technical quality of this DVD. The sound is very dull compared to my off-air recording, and the picture is distinctly inferior. (My recording is just standard freeview, not HD, by the way.)At least I don't have to fast forward past adverts on this DVD.I bought this off the Amazon marketplace. It wasn't cheap (£17.22), and I feel slightly ripped off. You do wonder if this might be a pirate copy, but without another to compare it against, it's impossible to tell.

Great programms
Was watching these programms on Swiss TV and am happy to have found them in English. Ottolenghi rocks.

Food to die for. Man to die for. Scenery to die for.
What more can I say? You feel yourself cleansing your palate as every stunning minute goes by. The perfect antidote to all that grossly over-handled "art on the plate" food tortured onto the plates in most other TV cookery programs
