Good water protection
This worked great on a older rain jacket and some hiking boots. Will continue to add when needed. It did not discolor or fade the clothing when added to it.

Very good product, and reasonable price.
Works very well. The spray bottle has a good, strong, spread of fine spray. Got 2 jackets covered easily with ~20 sprays each (that's a very rough guess, but I sprayed the jackets down quite a bit to ensure I didn't miss any spots - I'm just trying to say the spray bottle works well). The formula is great, we tested it on card board, and it totally works. Sprayed the jackets (Northface and Arcteryx), both are looking great. No issues with spots, nor any discoloration (my jackets are dark grey and black).Very good product, and reasonable price, I'll get the same again when I run out of this one (probably after next year).

16.9 oz bottle revived water resistance on 5 jackets, as advertised.
16.9 oz bottle covered 5 jackets, as advertised. Wore one of the jackets earlier same day (an Eddie Bauer) before treating and it wetted out indicating it was no longer water resistant. Cleaned them, sprayed Revivex on exterior of all to saturate, and ran them all through drier. Verified it restored water resistance, including the one I had worn earlier. No experience yet on durability.

Good stuff. Read this review!
Leaving this review because I saw a lot of complaints that this leaves spots/stains and ruined peoples jackets. That is almost 100% user error. The photos attached are after I treated my gear with this spray. This stuff works very well on my Gortex outerwear. It left no stains or spots on my black Burton AK jacket and bib. Also no spots on my 686 jacket which has lighter colors(more susceptible to oil/dirt stains.) Water was beading up and running off the jackets. Very hydrophobic. If you haven’t washed Gortex or other similar waterproof gear, I would recommend visiting their site and looking at the steps.First I wash the gear with Grangers performance detergent. Then I hang dry completely. Once it’s dry, I throw it in the dryer on low heat for 20 minutes to reactivate any remaining DWR. In some cases that’s all that is needed to make your gear water resistant again. If DWR is needed after the above steps, I hang up the gear and spray it down completely until the gear is wet to the touch. If the spray is beading up and dripping down your jacket you want to wipe off that excess with a clean rag. Apply generously to the shoulders and other high contact areas. After this you can just hang dry your gear but I like to throw it back in the dryer for another 20 minutes on low or medium heat. (Some DWR sprays need that heat to activate.) I know other peoples routines may vary but I do this once or twice a year to my jackets and it works well every time.Gear revivex and Grangers Repel + are my DWRs of choice. I do think Gear Revivex tends to be my favorite.

its ok but maybe needs more coats? Leaves residue
I've been using another similar brand for a long time and tried gear aid. It seems to work ok, but its not as consistent as what I was using. I tried the other brand side by side and this one doesn't have a consistent bead up of water. I washed the garment first and it was only damp when coated. Gave it a nice even light coat and let dry for 2 days. I went outside with the coat in some light drizzle and water kinda beaded up but in some areas it soaked in. Over the whole garment there where white splotches that werent there before. I followed instructions and sprayed the garment when damp not soaked, I let it set for an hour then wiped the garment with a damp sponge. then let it dry. I kinda regret the test with the wash that rid the old coating and trying something new. I should have done a cold wash, mile soap and stuck with a refresh of the previous coating.

New “improved” formula is junk
Took out the pfas now the product doesn’t work. Old stuff I’ve been using for years worked great. Goretx wets out in a matter of minuets now with new stuff. Waste of money

Great stuff - yes there is a process - some additional info
Another reviewer mentioned there is a process for using this product. From experience I would say definitely!Below is a post I made on a backpacking web site 3 years ago with what works for me:I prefer the spray-on products. I figure why do I want the inside of the jacket to have a DWR treatment? (if you use the wash-in, it also coats the inside. I see no reason for that)My regimen is to first wash my washer, make sure there is no soap residue of any kind in it. To clean the washer, I use the same product I clean my garment with. (either the revivex product or Nathan Power Wash.) The reason for this is to remove ALL previous laundry detergent and fabric softener residue. NEVER wash your Goretex or EVent garment with regular detergent! It will not allow the DWR treatment to adhere properly. the Revivex cleaner will rinse completely out of the fabric. Standard laundry detergent is designed to leave a bit of softener or scent behind. Then I wash the garment. (use Revivex product or in my case Nathan Power Wash). I use a double rinse to make sure the jacket is completely clean. The idea is to remove any oils adhering to the fabric, and have no residue at all when you're ready to reapply the DWR.Then while still wet, I spray the exterior of my jacket thoroughly with ReviveX, let it hang dry, then throw it into the dryer by itself for 60 minutes to bake it in. Follow the instructions on the garment label for temperature! My jackets breathe and water beads up like new. This process has worked for me every time for the last 8 years. In my experience, the thing that affects any DWR coating, on any waterproof breathable garment (I have Goretex and EVent) is dirt, oils from sweat, and smoke. Many times just a good cleaning with the proper cleaner is enough. But once a year, I use the above process to get the 'beading' back.True to their ads - this stuff works very well on down garments too, but you don't want to bake a down garment in a dryer like a shell!Another note to consider - contact the manufacturer of the garment first. Some fabrics work best with a wax type DWR (Nikwax for example), others use the polymer type (Revivex). With the jackets i own, the Revivex works best hands down, but a previous garment - the wax type DWR was recommended by the manufacturer.Last note - there is an Instant Revivex as well. It's great for a quick touch up before an outing, but Durable is made to last longer. I use both, but the Durable is the one I depend on. I highly recommend this product!
