Wooden Hamster Cage (39.4" L X 19.7" W X 19.7" H) - Extra Large Small Animal Cage W/Oblique Opening Cage Door and 4 Large Acrylic Sheets, Wooden Hamster Rabbits Enclosure with 3 Accessories

Well this was an extremely disappointing purchase. The only reason I might not return and try to sell it and accept a $160 loss is because I don’t want to break it down again and be told they can’t because I tore off the film. I’ll break down everything wrong with this cage.1) The directions are horrible. They don’t mention which screws for what, doesn’t show the finished product, no real step descriptions, it’s basically 6 pictures on one piece of paper and no directions. Also the panels shown in the photos are all window clear, not foggy like the received products.2) They don’t even mention the “acrylic plastic cover” on the panels until the last photo. But, only one side is removable, the other is not, so it’s still foggy. Also the peel… GOES UNDER THE WOOD FRAME. Meaning unless you want your animal to nibble on acrylic plastic around the frame and get sick or die, you’ll need to use a sharp knife to cut around the end of the wood panels, then use tweezers to strip off all the little bits left around the frame after peeling.3) They give you false hope unboxing that at least the front panel will be clear, because one panel is strip-able on both sides. Yay right?! No, because it’s actually a useless part. Directions mention for some reason laying it at the bottom of the wood cage for some reason after completion, which is unnecessary and too lose anyway and just slides around the bottom. Also, you can’t even substitute it for the back panel to turn it backwards and see into the cage that way, because it’s not long enough.4) The dimensions said it’d be around 2.5 feet long, it’s about 5ft. The height and width aren’t too far off, but this is way too long.5) There’s no latch for the foldable opening panel, so you’ll want to buy and install a lock and flip system for it, because it leaves gaps on the sides of the cage for animals to get out without one when closed unless you tap it.All in all, was so excited after receiving everything else to get a cute, CLEAR cage for a hamster half or less then half the size of this to set on my desk and finally get a hamster. Instead, it was 2 hour or so long process to get a foggy, unclear, genuine pig or rabbit enclosure. Very disappointed.I took a gamble with no reviews and paid the price, extremely disappointed, hope this saves anyone else out there whose considering it.

It was a pain to put together and their was a weird film out side of the glass that was annoying to peal off and left flakie stuff all over the place. besides that i like it.

So first of all…. LOL those other 2 reviews likely thought this would build itself. I’m 21 and have the strength of an unathletic middle schooler (also I’m sick rn), an extra set of hands is very helpful for the process as always though!!Okay time to be real..Some holes for the screws I had to really use my head (and average strength) to align but it honestly wasn’t too bad just time consuming. But for the outcome idrcIt’s waterproof, when water hits the wood it forms into droplets (besides, it has a giant well fitted acrylic sheet for the bottom)I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE the sizes because the minimum is LITERALLY the smallest size requirement for a Syrian, it’s perfect!To the review complaining about the size, I bet you have a Kaytee tunnel cage. Sad. It seems very accurately sized btw I have a ~35 in. gerbil tank and this is around 5 inches bigger SO….Trippin. Btw 40 inches is like 3+ feet not 2.5 or 5The acrylic sheets also have TWO!!! paper-thick sticky plastic sheets for both sides.They have a top VERY VERY thin and deceiving flaky layer but KEEP TEARING!! It’s clear, does NOT scratch that easily, you’d have to be scraping it with a pair of scissors.For the acrylic sheet process:As long as you have something like an x-acto knife and a lint roller (for the flakes), easy process and you won’t have to worry about what’s under the wood because its clean-cut with a knife and inaccessible from there.I also used some extra sticky sided velcro I had to stick the top from opening too easily! Just as an extra:DAnd if you’re worried about the holes, putting mesh on the bottom is much better than paying for something $300+!All in all, AWESOME AND CHEAP ALTERNATIVE TO NITEANGEL! And WAY more sturdy for a cat/dog household (considering the rubber bands they use in place of screws)! Love this!! Update on 3/10/23:Cage is leaking urine out the back corners even with the acrylic sheet on the bottom. I will have to put something to seal the back corners thar isn't toxic. Not great that it cannot keep urine in even with ample bedding. Also my syrian is chewing all the corners up as well. Still holding, but easily chewed so durability isn't greatThe first cage I got came damaged and I had to return the whole thing which was a hassle after unpacking. However, a new one was sent a few days after so fast shipping. In terms of removing the film for the acrylic, highly recommend scoring along edges with an xacto and pulling the film off quickly as it does leave lots of odd papery bits everywhere; nothing a vaccum and sticky roller can't pick up though. Overall love the look of the cage and size (I got the 40" for my syrian) and she loves it. Also cat proof which can be seen in the photo. A little finicky with the build but once together, a good cheaper alternative to the niteangel cage that I'm sure it's modeled after.
