Can anyone recommend how to glue the inserts in and mount it? I can use a drill but no idea what to buy to mount it - diy novice.

It arrives fully built ,well mine did and I have purchased 3 , the compartments fit tight and no gluing etc is required. To fix to a wall etc drill 2 or more holes through the back panel to mark your wall and screw through in to wall etc. You can drill through back panel on each side mark the wall prepare the wall or such then screw though back panel in to your mars holes or what ever, could also be hooked on to pre-fitted hooks but you need to know exactly what your doing with that .

Does it come with wall mount fittings?

No they don’t come with wall mount fittings. You will need to drill the holes in the cabinet also to allow them to be wall mounted.

Would series 1-75 matchbox look a bit small in this case?

I think generally they look o.k.. Maybe some early models from either side of 1960 may look small as MB models got bigger mid 60's onward to the Superfast era they fill up the spaces well and some of the bigger ones fit in snugly .
