Helped my old dog recover from a gum infection
I have a dog who is too old to get anesthesia for dental cleanings. Several months ago, he got a gum infection while boarding (assumedly from a shared water bowl). In addition to antibiotics, the vet wanted me to make sure his gums were free from food particles so that the infection stayed contained. I had been using chicken flavored toothpaste and spraying a little bit of vet-issued mouthwash into the area, but it was a super messy process and didn't seem to help protect his teeth. Every meal, sure enough, the food was sticking to his gums and I'd have to brush again. I got the oral gel to see if it might be a less messy and more effective solution. I am super happy with it. I've been using it for about 2 months now, and the infection is cleared up and food gets stuck to his gums way less often as well as less "gunk" building up on the teeth. I decided to use this as a replacement for toothpaste for my 2 year old dog as well. They both tolerate the taste just fine. My only complaint is that it is very easy to "over squeeze" and get too much solution splattering from the bottle. It's a thin gel. I wish the bottle were designed a bit better for administering a consistent amount.

VetzLife Oral Care Gel
I bought this gel on the reccomendation of a friend who is getting one of my pugs. This pug was recently diagnosed with CUPS, Chronic Ulcerative Paradental Stomatitis- a terribly painful condition and very frustrating. He had recently had a dental and shortly afterward, my vet gave us the diagnosis after a week or so, his breath was smelling terribly bad. It was so painful for him. So I spoke with a friend who uses this product on her cat who also has this same diagnosis. I started using this on him the day I got it and already I can see an amazing difference- his teeth are clean, his breath smells great, and he eats with gusto again-because when you keep the teeth clean, the ulcers subside from the gums and mouth soft tissue. I am sold on this product and will use it on all my pugs from now on. I will reccomend it to all my friends for their pets! What a lifesaver!

Great Product - Poorly Designed Bottle
Since we got our beloved Golden Retrievers, over thirteen years ago, I made a vow that I would be ultra diligent with their dental care because I wanted to keep them as healthy as possible, keep their breath fresh, & for them to never feel dental pain/discomfort. Starting from only a few weeks of age, they have had their teeth brushed nearly every day of their precious lives. In the beginning, I experimented with few different brands of toothpastes, but ultimately found a winning combination. I have been using this product for 5+ years now. Individually, I have them lie down with their left side up against the kitchen or bathroom cupboards. I then put a squirt of this product & a pea-sized amount of C.E.T. Tartar Control Seafood toothpaste on the toothbrush. I rest their head on my knee to stabilize their face, & begin by lifting the jowls on the left side & brushing in both directions, back & forth. To get the bottom back molars is a little tricky, but I angle to the toothbrush & slide it into place when their mouths open. Then I brush the right side of their teeth, applying another squirt of both toothpastes to the brush. I am careful to ensure that all of the teeth have been thoroughly scrubbed. The combination of these two products has worked really well for my girls. The PetzLife mint flavor keeps their breath minty fresh, although they don't really like the taste of it. This color of this product is kind-of clear tannish, with a gel-like consistency. The reason, however, why I rated the product a 4 instead of a 5 is because the pump on the bottle is terrible. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And even when it does work, the little slits on the pump piece get gummy with dried gel. It's a poorly designed bottle. The most recent bottle that I purchased, I dumped into a tupperware bowl, which I dab the toothbrush into. After I finish brushing their teeth, I wipe their faces with a soft cloth & inspect the skin around their mouths. Lastly, I give the inside of their ears a good look over & then they're done! Happy, beautiful girls!

Works!
I am so thrilled. This product truly Works! I have an elderly Chihuahua and she has always had an issue with plaque build up. I have paid a lot of money to have her teeth cleaned professionally only to have the plaque build up again quickly. I applied the gel to her teeth once in the morning for 14 days and it softened the plaque enough for me to scrape most of it off with my finger nail. My little one wasn't pleased with me poking around in her mouth. But most of the plaque literally chipped/flaked off. I can't wait for another 14 days. I predict it will be all gone.

Recommended by a vet
I'm using this because it was recommended by a vet. After using this for three months, I can't say I see any evidence that this gel made any difference. It might be too soon to tell though. I apply some to my cats' paws once a day, and they lick it off. My cats won't let me apply gel directly to their gums, which is the case with many cats. The instructions on some bottles (including the product images here) are incomplete. There are several versions of the bottle design out there, and I received some older bottles. PetzLife's website recommends twice daily applications to remove plaque and tartar, and 2-3 applications per week as a preventive. Also pay attention to the dosage. Flavor-wise, my cats hate it. They run away when they see the bottle. They'll shake their paws to get the gel off. I've tried both the mint and the salmon flavors. For some reason, the salmon flavor is also minty.
