The Best Magnifier for the Money and YOU WILL LOVE IT
I've purchased several of these now because every time someone comes to my house they pick mine up and can't put it down! Everyone wants to look at everything through this powerful little magnifier- kids and adults. One was given to me as a gift and I've purchased several more as gifts for others. Not one person was disappointed including ME. The price is right and it will bring hours of joy to anyone. You'll see- buy one and you'll be inspecting everything in sight for the next hour or two! Any time you need a little gift, this is perfect for anyone and it's very useful too. I can see splinters in fingers, flaws in the stones I use for jewelry, into wounds, checking out jewelry, coins, anything I need a close look at. LOVE these.

Very good! Not a precision instrument but plenty good, nevertheless.
This little pocket microscope is quite incredible. It is powered by common AA batteries and provides **plenty of light** focused on the item being examined which makes for a nice clear crisp image. When I put batteries in this microscope and tried it for the first time, I used it to magnify a word that I had written on a piece of plain white paper with a standard "lead" pencil. After I mastered how to focus properly, I could even see the **fine particles of graphite dust** on the paper adjacent to the word that I had written! We have a 7-year old youngster in our family who will have a great time with this. (This is the same youngster who was experimenting with a large magnifying glass one sunny day recently.... And set our Halloween scarecrow on fire!)This is not a precision instrument, but it's more than a toy. I can't say how satisfactory it would be for serious adult use.Footnote: This microscope produces an upside-down image. It might take a bit of practice for a youngster to maneuver properly.

decent considering the price
As a child/teen, I had a hand held microscope that looked very similar to this. I purchased this in hopes to pass one along to my son. This one is considerably lower in quality, but given the price it's still a decent item.I showed my kid the detail on a penny (Lincoln sitting inside the Lincoln Memorial) etc. It's a bit difficult to focus and the directional switch for the light sticks routinely. I'd not buy it again, nor recommend it to a friend. That said, It arrived at my door less than 24 hours from the time I ordered it. And it was practically free. So I can't complain.Still, if a friend offered one to me for free, I'd probably turn it down in search of a better one. My son wanted one to better examine his many cuts, scrapes and scabs. My dad collects stamps and has poor vision. I will probably see if he finds it useful.

Love this little microscope
It's great for seeing slithers in your skin or it gives you the ability to look real close to a problem on the skin. We love it. I'm sure there are a 1000 other uses for it. Our old one that we have had for decades broke. We were glad to find a replacement.

Years of pleasure with 4 or 5 in my family, but....gifted one didn't work!
This will be a mixed review. We have owned 4 or 5 of these through the years of raising boys, so I didn't hesitate to purchase one as a gift for our 9yo great nephew at Christmas. The ones we owned were great and brought lots of "oohs, aahs, and yucks" to our family as they prodded and looked at carpet fibers, bugs, cuts, scrapes, leaves and more. So, I was very disappointed when my niece reported right after Christmas that they could not get the one I sent as a gift to work :(.This is a responsible and careful family, so I would think it was handled well and not broken before use. I will update this after I try to get my $ back or get a replacement. SO...as a mother of a 24yo, 22yo and 17yo who used 4 or 5 throughout the years, they are GREAT. As someone who purchased one as a gift and it didn't work...I am sorely disappointed.

Zoom in for detail!
I've had one of these for 20 years and it finally broke so I ordered this new one which works perfect for zooming in on microscopic details of my plants and bugs!

Doesn't work like it says-what a piece of junk.
It is so cheap the price was reduced after I bought it. Don't waste 10.00...
