Another great model from Ugears. This one will test your skills. Use plenty of glass paper and candle wax to make gears and legs work smoothly

The clockspring mechanism is very difficult to install. Once fully assembled it would not walk. All parts did seem to move/rotate freely so I suspect that there is an intermittent jam somewhere. So full dis-assembly will be required to find the fault. Edit: Oct 2024 - UGears have now offered me a full refund, which I've accepted. I think I will still consider buying other UGears products in the future ...they are actually very well made. Just, in this case, for whatever reason, the walking mechanism didn't function.

Very happy with this UGears Triceratops Dinosaur Wooden Model Kit. This kit was excellent to put together and good fun. Love that the dinosaurs head tail and jaws move. Would make an excellent gift for dinosaur or puzzle lovers. Great for teenagers or adults. Well made, good value and great quality.

despite being 3mm thick, one of the spine pieces broke.

I liked this a lot - it's fun and challenging to put together, and it looks great when fully assembled. It's great for kids to spend time away from a screen and working together to put this kit together was a great use of a weekend. It's nice to look at a shelf ornament and feel a sense of accomplishment. Absolutely great.

These kits are extremely well made. The laser cutting of the parts on the wooden sheets is very precise and clean, and the parts fit well. I only gave it 3 stars for "easy to assemble", because these kits take a long time to build. Figure on at least 3 days on this particular one, and that's if you can dedicate 6-8 hours per day. Some people seem to knock these out faster, but not me. It requires patience and care, especially when separating the parts from the sheet. A sharp Xacto knife is a must for this, to separate the little tabs that hold the pieces into the sheet. Without that, you risk breaking the smaller more delicate parts. I highly recommend this kit. If you are a careful model builder, you will be rewarded with a fine finished product.
