Recently found myself and others in a situation where we need to use one of these. Bought them in bulk to give to family members and friends because I believe in having them in case of emergency and I know most of them will never take the time to get them. Was kayaking on a river in the middle of a forest when a severe rain storm hit. We were getting very cold very quickly when I remembered I had one of these in the pocket of my life jacket. We used it like an umbrella with 7 people underneath! Kept us from getting wetter and did keep our body heat up. I will never go into the forest or on the water without one again. Gave away 75 in one week and waiting for the 75 pack to come back in stock to get more!

I got this product for 2 reasons, the first is for what they were made for, the second it to see if they could be used as a thermal insulator for windows. When I opened 1 fully, I saw that they are very shiny on 1 side and able to see through. They are very thin, like tin foil, but not as fragile. I will see how they do as an insulator in about a months time, if they don't do well at that, they should do just fine as an Emergency blanket/shelter if and when needed.

My bookclub is doing a community service project for the homeless. Anyone of the items on the wish list was blankets so they wouldn’t have to lay on the bare ground. I was looking for blankets to purchase and ran across these Mylar blankets used by NASA. They were highly recommended for camping trips and emergencies. The homeless population has enough to deal with without dragging a bulky blanket around. The Mylar blankets will provide a covering for the ground, they work for warmth and helping to keep the rays of the sun away and can shield when in the rain. I hope that these blankets can bring comfort to those that need them the most. They certainly appear to be just what I was looking for!

I'm working with a group who provide blankets, clothing, food and personal care items to the homeless. We go out into the woods and fields to find folks who are trying to survive without the bare essentials through below freezing nights. We don't have enough blankets and sleeping bags for everyone but these emergency blankets provide a bare minimum of protection. Combined with a single blanket, they can make the difference between frostbite or even death to these people. I have purchased them in quantities of 75 twice, and they are easy to distribute to those who need them and don't take up much room in a car loaded with clothing and blankets. I'll probably get them again.

I bought some packs of these to give to my sister going on a mission trip with her church. The desperate people are coming out of the rain forest cold, wet and sick. Weather drops to about 50s at night. Her medical team passed them out on the streets, she said the the street were "lined in silver." She sent me a picture of a young mother in the streets with one wrapped around her cradling a yound child. I am thankful for these blankets for any comfort they may have provided!!
