Great Read
This is my second book as I let my other one go to someone who was interested in reading it, and had to buy again to read as I did enjoy reading it and felt I was on the Journey with the Author.

It will enrich your life and place a few more pieces to the jigsaw that is self discovery
I bought this book after watching the film with my children on movie night, the film was very entertaining and very powerful in its message to the soul. So much so I bought the book and read it from cover to cover in the space of a week making notes on the many pearls of wisdom to be found within it. It's a path we should all follow and indeed we all need to follow if we truly are to evolve from the animals that we are to the peaceful yet strong beings that we could be. I enjoyed the book so much I also bought his two children's books "quest for the crystal castle" and "secret of the peaceful warrior" both great books to read your children to highlight compassion to those who don't seem to deserve it. And finally I bought his other book "the life you were born to live" this is a very enlightening book, it works out your particular character type based on your birthday and unlike cheap horoscopes actually seems quite accurate especially if like me I'm just past 40 so I can see a lot of my past travel path in there. Books seem to come to you just when you need them

Great introduction to this subject matter
I have only recently discovered the idea of living in the Now and being present; this book was interesting, easy to read and a helpful introduction to these concepts. I like the fact that it is a story as well as a personal development book; I would recommend it, although I'm not sure I am yet ready to believe everything in the book. Dan Millman says at the start though that he has added bits, so maybe you aren't meant to.I have since gone on to read Eckhart Tolle, Practicing the Power of Now, which was sooo easy to read but has really changed my life. Yes, I know that sounds a bit cheesy, but the simplicity of this book and the ease with which I was able to put his writing into practice has made me happier - I can actually switch off the constant critical voice in my head and it is liberating..

Learn something new about yourself
The first book I have read since leaving school 15 years ago....Recommended by my acupunturist and based on his suggestion that I would find parallels within the story, well I must say its as if it was written for me about me and too me!Millions of other readers say the same and I'm certain they too have drawn positively from a story that takes the reader through a humorous, insightfull, inspiring, enlightening, emotional journey of oneself. This book will open your mind and paint your world and life within it, with new colours of which you would have never seen before, its simply beautiful and I feel gratefull to have read it.In summary, the story is based on an aspiring athlete (Dan) who's troubled by his thoughts and dreams and full of lifes questions he cannot answer. Late one night after a frightening re-occuring dream, Dan stumbles upon an unusual, mystical character. Almost 'unhuman,' this character seems to know more about Dan and the journey he faces than he does.Intrigued by what this character has to offer, Dan becomes reluctanly drawn to his 'ways' and soon learns (As all will that read this story) that there's infinitely more to life than we seek.Thank you for reading my reviewKind RegardsWill

It will change your life... if you let it.
Within its title, this book makes a bold claim; it changes lives.Does it?The answer is a resounding "yes"... as long as you let it.The story charts the life of Dan from college through to mid adulthood. On the surface he appears to have everything - a succesful gymnast, plenty of luck with the girls, good grades... but he feels that something is missing, and when meets the good natured gas station attendant (surely a sign of the times) known only as "Socrates", he begins his spiritual journey. It is important to recognise that this is not a book that tries to sell you religion (although it touches on many buddhist-esque themes), but rather a personal way to know inner peace in a world of turmoil. There is no preaching but rather "this is the path I walk - try it if you want to".Ok, so the bad points; the books is very linear and there is no "villain" per se, other than the hero's personal failings. The pace is gentle, and some may find it slow. The good points; I found the writing to be compulsive, and I have re-read this many times over the years, often in one (8hr) sitting. There are many layers to it, and although it begins in the mid sixties (an age before the internet and mobile phone), the lessons it tries to convey are as relevant today as they were then.Whilst some people do not like the ending, personally I found it very fulfilling. So does this book really change lives? Yes and no. It is a gateway... it presents an ever present opportunity that if you do not like a certain aspect of yourself (you feel you have too many noisey or negative thoughts), then you can change. But that is perhaps the flaw - this is not a manual for change, but rather a mirror that makes you think "oh, this scene is a bit like me" or "I think I've behaved like that".A great deal is made about those who "are caught between knowing and doing". This book allows you to know... but the change must come from within.Personally, I love this book and have recommended it to many friends.Long may Dan Millman continue.

Be careful - it's not for everyone
It's a book about lifestyle. It's much more about transcendence. It took 3 years to finish this book, but I feel that if I had finished it 2 years ago I would rate this as perfect, but it's not. It's just more one illusion.
