“OUTTAKES” from Nest By Jorey Hurley PLUM BRANCHES I've been drawing the tree out our kitchen window and the many birds that frequent it for years --- this is from spring 2012. That's how I developed the style used for the images in Nest. Click here for a larger image AMERICAN ROBIN One of the most common birds here in the Presidio is the American Robin. I decided to make them the main bird in Nest because they live all across North America, often in suburban or fairly built-up areas. Also their behavior is appealing to a human perspective (some birds are really not nice once you get into the details), so robins are perfect to share with young children. This revised sketch is very similar to the final "blow" spread, which is one of the preview pages for Amazon already. Click here for a larger image
