Surfers Paradise

In high-school especially, I would never ever admit to anyone that I even listened to mainstream bands. I made sure that my "favorite" bands were all either obscure, foreign, or respectable oldies. While I totally did and still do love those bands and I'd like to think that my musical taste has only gotten better with time, I also totally have always indulged in the occasional mainstream band/artist. Cody Simpson is one of those mainstream artists."Surfer's Paradise" is not a full album but a continuation really of Cody's first full length official album "Paradise." While record label Atlantic no doubt wanted to just push out more music to ride the wave of success off of 2012's "Paradise", "Surfer's Paradise" actually is a whole lot more layered and much more stylistically true to who Cody probably is/wants to become as an artist. He's honestly not a Justin Bieber, but more like a baby pop version of Jack Johnson or even the brilliant and fellow Aussie Xavier Rudd.That's not to say that this album isn't straight up pop though. It is. Unashamedly. It even has the prerequisite guest rappers on a verse or two. But it has a slight island breezy acoustic vibe, as opposed to just strictly dance/electronic inspired pop which most other mainstream pop artists are throwing out. So essentially, it's fun and light and summery, but it has enough depth that I actually remember the songs afterwards. And maybe find myself humming them while work and then having to play them on the ride home.Parents--this is an album that you could buy for your kids and not cry when having to listen to it for the 60ish time. For everyone else, if you think a sweet teen poppy version of Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson or Xavier Rudd is appealing, then this is definitely the album for you.

We purchased this CD because the first song plays at the end of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" which is our child's new favorite movie. We always have the watch the credits so our son can hear this song, so I found this CD as a surprise so we could listen to it in the car. Because of that, I didn't expect to like the rest of the CD per se, but it's now one of my favorites and we like all the songs! The CD is upbeat and sweet and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

Another great album by Cody Simpson. This CD is filled with great, upbeat dance songs as well as slow romantic tracks that a delight to listen to. After listening to this album 3 times, I'm still not done wearing this album out.

Loved this interesting music from a bright young star. Loved this CD, and can't wait to see what he'll produce in the future. Much more mature verses his previous work.

A great summer listen!! There is a good mixture of slow songs and upbeat ones. Great purchase.

I love the Cd and I listen to it everyday but it came scratched and I didn't notice till my little sister asked on the first day I got it why it was stopping in random places.So if you like his music get the CD hope you don't get a scratched one.

I love Cody Simpson and am very pleased with this album. It was delivered quickly and the CD arrived exactly when I wanted it to. I like the Amazon "Price Guarantee" or whatever it's called because you can pre-order anything at any time and you will only pay the price of the object when it is released.Any Angel will love this album and I can't wait to hear more of Cody's music. Well worth buying :-)
