Absolutely Works. Exceptional Value for money.
I had a serious green algae explosion that decimated my tank while I was out of state for work. Too much light and a high ammonia spike was the cause. After a heavy water change and 1 week with this light on 24hrs a day my water is crystal clear. With or without proper light cycles this UV light is ideal for 20g to 59g tanks. I'd be surprised if it didn't work for bigger tanks.I dint really leave Amazon reviews but credit is given when due. This is an honest review. The light looks very fragile and has a feeling that it isn't going to work. Bit it really is ideal and all you need if you want perfect clarity in your water. It does not climate the need for other standard water treatments, but with a charcoal filter and a good length of time, this lamp is absolutely worth the money. 5 out of 5 for results. Cheap, easy install, doesn't look like anything special but has turned my tank upside down in comparison to where I was at. 100% recommend. Just pop it I'm your filter box (not in the tank with the fish) and leave it alone. In a few days to a week you'll have perfect water clarity.

Cleared up difficult algae problem
My tank got some micro algae that turned it into pea soup that I couldn’t get rid of, and I tried everything under the sun to address it. I didn’t want to use chemicals, so decided to give this light a try. It took about 10-14 days, but it not only slowly cleared up, it was more crystal clear than than ever before! Since I imagine it will kill your beneficial bacteria, I put it between some polyester floss and the carbon bag, hoping it didn’t completely wipe the bacteria in the sponge/media bags.A few things to be aware of- the light in your filter will still bleed through to the tank, so I put a piece of thin cardboard between the filter and the tank to protect the fish. Secondly, when I removed it, I noticed it burned a hole in my carbon bag, so FYI- not sure id use it long term. Lastly, it had some moisture in the housing, so not sure about durability, but seems to have a warranty if something did go wrong at least. Hope this helps!

Not Working Like I Had Hoped
I read all the positive reviews so I thought I would try this. Been in the filter part of my tank for 1 month now. The light is very dim in comparison to the seller's pictures. So dim that algae is still growing. Could the bulb be bad? Any suggestions for me?

Great for small to medium aquariums!
I love this UV light because it is an excellent alternative to other UV tank sterilizers which tend to be somewhat expensive. I am sure your tank has a filter, right? Well then there's no need to add another giant appliance to the tank. Just use your existing filter and this UV light. I'm sure your water will clear up in 2 weeks or less. But please, do not just dunk this UV light into the water. You must protect your fish, and yourself from the harmful UV rays it produces. Keeping it in your filter kills two birds with one stone. It ensures good water flow around the light, and most importantly it shields you and the fish from the harmful light.
