The seller sent an email with additional usage tips, which I really appreciated. Wetting the hair helps it show up on darker hair. The "chalk" is definitely more like crayon or grease pencil, but didn't leave hair heavy and greasy. It washed out right away (but instructions say it can last longer if you heat set it). Our neighbor's daughter has very very pale blond curly hair, and the color washed right out in a single shampoo (whew!). Nice bright colors, and the kids at our birthday party loved using them on each other. Color can be subtle, but if you keep going back over it (or wet the hair first), it can be relatively intense. The package shows some extremely bright colors, but keep in mind it's probably either a wig or applied on platinum blonde hair-- that probably won't be the result on most hair, but you can definitely get it pretty bright!

I bought these as a fun treat for my girl and was pleasantly surprised how well they work. My 5yr is a blonde and I had no doubt they would work fine on her hair but my 8yr old has redish-brown hair and I didn't think the color would show up very well. Even on my red-haired child the colors showed up bright and vibrant. It took me about an hour and a half to do both girls hair and now that I've done it once I think I figured out some ways to get it done quicker and for it to look nicer. All in all my girls and I had a blast making their hair "rainbow" and and I have plenty of hair chalk left to their hair several times over. Great product. I highly recommend!!!

It works on dark hair, but it's not going to look anything like the picture on the box. I used several techniques, but I'm not sure which one(s) worked the best - lightly spraying hair with water, lightly spraying the crayon itself with water, using a hair dryer to slightly warm up the crayon before coloring the hair. I had to use a lot to get the color to appear as bright as it does in my attached picture. Some colors seemed to work better on dark hair (pink, turquoise). I also used a hair dryer to dry and set the color. The product is more like a crayon than chalk, and depending how much you use, it makes the hair stiff and waxy. I was pleasantly surprised the color didn't rub off once it was dry. I applied the color to my daughter's hair in the morning before school. After school, she was sitting next to me and snuggled her head against my shirt. Surprisingly, no color was transferred to my white shirt. It was very easy to wash out of her hair - you could see the color starting to rinse out as soon as the water hit her hair (therefore, you may not want to wear this while swimming if you want the color to stay on your hair).Overall, I'd recommend this product. The price was decent, it was fairly easy to use, and most important to me - it didn't rub off onto my daughter's clothes.

I love love love this hair chalk! I bought it because I am the Parrot team captain of a quilting for charity team on March 31 at our local guilds National Quilt Day Celebration. I wanted to be “colorful” for the team. Upon receiving it I HAD to try it and so for a day my ugly gray hair was purple,teal and pink. I am 79 and got so many comments on my color that I decided “ why not ?” There are so many beautiful colors in the kit and it washes right out in the shower. Today I matched my orange flamingoes standing in teal water T shirt to the orange and teal in my hair. WHAT FUN!!! Tomorrow who knows what colors I will wear in my hair. Thus is one of the MOST fun products I have purchased in a long time. I hope my set lasts until March 31!!!

My 7 yr old daughter was excited to receive and use immediately. Fun for kids to experiment and use. As first time hair chalkers, only gave 3 it has been a fun experiment and also isn't amazingly mind-blowing. After a couple days and learning, she realized doesn't really like the waxy feeling left in her hair. This hair chalk appears to be more like a waxy chalk crayon for hair, maybe not all hair chalk products are like this, but as I mentioned we're first time purchasers. For shorter hair, like our 3 yr old, it is fun to color, and then style hair messy or funky sticking up-due to the nature of the chalk easily stands up or styles in place, lol.It is easy to use, with adult help or a patient kid, to learn a few details to help with application. Easily washes out. Hasn't stained anything thus far. Not sure I'd purchase this same brand again, but cost of the product and fun for kids was worth it.

Fabulous! Worked on light blonde and brown hair. Very simple to apply. I found it helpful (and faster) to put a napkin on the box it came in and put that under the hair I was applying color to. I included a photo of what I did. It only took 2-3 minutes to apply the color to my son's head. My daughter's hair is longer, so it took maybe 6-8 minutes. Highly recommended.

I’m a senior stuck in isolation and thought these would be fun. They are! Works great on what’s left of my sandy blond and works great on my silver roots. Hubby loves it and I’m having a blast changing it up.I’ve used it on both wet and dry hair and love the way it combs out and doesn’t feel heavy, gummy or greasy.I would buy them again and think they’d make a terrific gift.

Going crazy at home all day?! This hair chalk is great! Added some fun to our quarantine lifestyle. You need to apply a lot to dark hair but it does show through! Works best on blonde hair. 🙌
