(I have just put the strip on its final location and all is good for now, but if anything happens I will update.) 5/26/18 I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to have a music activated LED strip that is more than just flashing on and off. It has 4 different music modes and you can change the color in only 2 of those. The LED strip is a healthy 16 feet 4 inches and fairly simple to put up wherever you chose. They are water proof but not something I would put outside or under water but you can use them in a bathroom that might have a humidity issue because of steam. The strip in music mode is activated by a microphone on the strip control. There is no remote but it has an app called IHoment which is fairly painless to install and mess around with on your phone and so the bluetooth works well from across my living room. This product does not sync to music you are playing from your phone and works solely on the microphone pickup. The app on your phone is to only set modes and cycle through colors. This is basically a good entry level set for 31 dollars (even better if on sale). If you want something more advanced you are going to have to start buying different components and you better have a soldering iron and know how to use it. Until that point this is a great strip of LEDs that are a vast upgrade from your basic strip of LEDs that just flash on and off.

When i first got it, I installed the app, played with all the features, and loved it. Then, I went to install it in my camper. The installation was smooth, and the product felt like it was of good quality. The button on/off worked well. However, after a little while I noticed it turned off, and when I went to troubleshoot, found that the connection between the controller and the light strip (3 solder pads) failed, and it fell off. I contacted seller via email, and went to work. Since I have electronics background, I decided it was fix or trash then. I soldered the wires back on and the first unit of 3 LED came on. The 5050's come in 3's. it did not respond to the controller and the controller did not respond / sync via bluetooth. Sounds like a bad controller. Confirmed with my electronics engineer that everything was correct. So I cut the first unit of 3 off, soldered the wires onto the rest of the strip. Confirmed again, and it lit the first unit. Suspect in addition to the failure of the solder pads, failure of the controller. Support replied quickly and sent a brand new replacement. All is well! Thank you again and they work fantastic. The candlelight one and the "move with the music" are our favorite configurations.

I just got these today and I have to say I am pretty excited! I bought these waterproof, colored LEDs to pimp out our camper that we just got this past Spring and replace the boring white LED strip that came with the camper. I wanted to have LED lights that I could change based on the season or the event (4th of July campout, or Halloween Campout) - these LEDs will surely make our camper stand out among the other campers. I won't get the chance to put the LED strip on the camper until we get it out of storage in the Spring, but here is what this baby can do: 1. Using the Govee Home smartphone app and your phone's Bluetooth connection (you do not need WIFI), you can set the light strip to turn on and off at specific times - great feature! You don't have to worry about turning the lights on or off, as this is totally automated. Once you have set the on/off time in the phone app, you can turn off Bluetooth on your phone (since having Bluetooth on drains the phone battery), and you can close the app - the lights will still turn on and off by themselves at the times that you set! Even if your phone is turned off (or the battery dies), the LED strip will still turn on and off by itself. 2. With the Govee smartphone app, you can set up customized programs with custom colors and different blinking/chasing/fading effects. You can use a maximum of 8 colors in any order for each custom program. You can also adjust the brightness. These puppies are really bright when maxed out. Using the app you can adjust the speed of the transitions as well - I like to use the fade setting at the slowest speed, so the transition between colors is subtle. 3. Although I am not particularly interested in this feature, the LED strip has something called "Music Mode", which blinks and changes color to the beat of whatever music is playing (or to voices). I can see where this would be a cool feature to some, but for others like me who just want to sit outside their camper by the campfire chatting with friends or family, this might be annoying. 4. For times when you just want regular white light, this is easily accomplished by tapping the white light square in the Color mode of the Govee Home app. The only downside to this LED strip is that the adhesive tabs that came with the strip are not very good (many other reviews mention this shortcoming). If you don't have another means of attaching your LED strip to your intended surface (i.e. hooks or some kind of brackets), the strip WILL fall. I am uncertain how I am going to attach these to my camper (I do know that I am not drilling or putting any screws into the camper); I will have to wait until I access the camper in the Spring to see. I am hoping that there is already an existing bracket holding the original light strip, and that I can just snap the new LED strip into it. If not, I will probably end up purchasing some good quality adhesive clips to attach this strip to my camper. As this light strip can do so many cool things, the poor quality of the adhesive strips is not a deal breaker for me. Bottom line: This LED strip is awesome. I highly recommend it, and would buy it again. If you have any friends or family that are camping freaks and willing to do some minor modifications to their camper, this would be an excellent gift.
