There is not a cross body strap.

Q: is this leather or vegan?

Not real leather. Straps are weird though. Does not stay on my shoulder.

Q: Will this bag hold my laptop, 40 oz water bottle, and lunch with extra room for other items?

Yes.. I have a laptop, book, 2 - 3 ring binders, and a zipper 3-ring binder in mine along with pens and pencils in the zipper part.. And I’d probably be able to get a water bottle in there but won’t because of my computer. Love this, best thing I’ve bought to carry my things.
