Exactly as described, I got these for use indoors of a carbon exhaust setup and intake setup of ducting as I have pets that shed but also to adjust the airflow a bit better than just blowing straight out of 4" tube; these keep intake of unwanted large dust, debris and fur out and the ones on the exhaust side keep air from just blowing dust and fur back into the air, plus you also get a good 'finished' look to your ducting instead of just open tubes.

Install really easy and tight.
Vent installed really easy on my shed using 3/8” LP paneling. Looks like they can handle a variety of depths of material. I was surprised how tight they installed. Only complaint would be the bug screen doesn’t fit the greatest and needs a larger guide to keep it square with vent. I believe used a 4” hole saw
