Louis Philippe: A Life Of Challenges
Not all of those "born with a silver spoon" in their mouths have it easy, such was the life of Louis Philippe. The son of the famous Duc de Orleans who voted for the execution of King Louis XVI, Louis Philippe lost his father to the excesses of the French Revolution and was himself forced into years of exile in order to escape the guillotine. Ascending the throne as the "King of the French" after the revolution of 1830 deposed the autocratic Charles X, Louis Philippe lost his throne because he sincerely loved the French people - even in mob form - and ultimately refused his troops permission to fire on them. He died in exile. The French got what they wanted "good & hard" - a Republic. Be careful what you wish for! This book is a detailed, yet relatively easy, read for those interested in French history on a topic not widely covered.

Louis Philippe, the last Bourbon's King of French
The King of French people Louis Philippe (formerly known as the Duke of Orleans, whose father father was guillotined during French Jacobin Red Terror in 1793) that ruled France between two French revolutions of 1830 and 1848 was practically unknown to most non-French readers.I enjoyed reading this book. It's a great story of a good personwho was suitable to be one of Opposition's Leaders (during French Bourbons' Restoration period 1815-1830) who did not fit to rule FranceKudos to the author and to Amazon for such good price $0.00 !!!
