In Japanese, Matcha literally means "tea powder." It is a green tea grown in Japan, and traditionally used in tea ceremonies. The leaves are dried, then finely ground into a very delicate powder.

Where does ORIGEENS matcha come from?

Our tea is 100% organic and comes from the Shizuoka area of Japan.

Is it normal not to like the taste of matcha tea at the start

Matcha has an umami, unique taste, which is new for our palate, and sometimes it takes a while to get used to it. When we first taste matcha, the palate may not recognise this new taste: repetition is the key (just like with coffee or wine).

How do you clean the ceramic bowl (chawan)?

The bowl is microwave- and dishwasher-friendly, but if you want it to last longer, we recommend that you hand-wash it.

How do you clean the bamboo whisk?

Rinse your whisk with cold water, without any cleaning product. This should be done directly after use, so that the matcha does not have time to dry on the whisk. Air dry the whisk, with the tines facing upwards. Dishwasher use is not recommended.
