Veranda Retreats

I have the three previous Verandah books all of which were excellent and particularly the first one.I therefore had no hesitation in ordering Verandah Retreats and waited in anticipation for another great book.However, when the book arrived it turned out to be a massive disappointment and so much so that I had to return it immediately.Why -Well, if you are a fan of American decoration with over stuffed, over filled, over cluttered, tasteless, brightly coloured interior styles then this book IS DEFINETLY FOR YOU and you will enjoy it.If on the other hand you appreciate subtlety in interior decoration and design, interiors with great style, tasteful interiors and comfortable interiors then this book IS NOT FOR YOU.In summary, whilst D Hicks famously said, 'taste has nothing whatsoever to do with money' this message has yet to be understood by the majority of 'decorators' featured in volume 4 of the Verandah series.But do buy Verandah Volume 1. Most of it is great.

Buying a used book can be a risk. The buyer relies on the honesty of the bookseller’s description. I took the risk,and am pleased with the results. It is a lovely book.

Veranda’s house books are inspirational, never go out of date and provide hours of fun browsing for great ideas.

Great read with excellent photography. Beautiful ideas.
