Independent filmmaker Masashi Yamamota, known for his uneasy dramas that captured the restless spirit of Japan s youth, appropriates the central idea from The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe and transplants it to modern-day Tokyo. The distinctive story begins when Kumi discovers mysterious ruins on the edge of the city. Overgrown with plants, the haunting atmosphere of the garden draws her inside, where she is increasingly consumed by its beauty, color, and fantasy. Just like Crusoe on his deserted island, Kumi is lost and isolated in Robinson s Garden. Shot by Tom DiCillo (director of Living in Oblivion), Jim Jarmusch s frequent cinematographer, the film thrives on its edgy indie style.

懐かしい。８０ｓ
このDVD、リージョン１と表記されとるけど実際はフリーやったで。国内プレイヤーで視れる。昔出とった国内盤はプレミアでアホみたいな値になっとるのでこっちで買うべき。リアルタイムでは視ていなかった世代の人がどういう感想を持つのか全く想像できへんのやけど、今の邦画が（いや、洋画も）いまいち好きになれんという人には１回視てほしい。自分は全ての日本映画の中でも１，２を争うほど好きな物、この映画をみているとすごく精神的な開放感を感じることができる。今の社会に一番無いもんちゃう？

ROBINSON’S GARDEN（ロビンソンの庭）
古い映画のせいか画質がイマイチですが、見ていて特に問題はありません。日本版が廃盤になっていて、既に高額なプレミアがついていることを考えると、このような海外版に手を出すのもアリかもしれません。ただしリージョンコードのチェックなど、自己責任の範疇も増えますけれど。
