Viewing Dr. Ellie's video about how to break down plaque formation gave me a better understanding of what components of gum and mints are not beneficial. This brand doesn't use glycerin, which is very unusual in the xylitol gum market. This is my primary reason to use this specific brand besides zellies, which doesn't always have the spearmint flavor in stock. It's true that the flavor doesn't last long, but I'm really just desiring to get xylitol all over my teeth after a meal to neutralize acid to protect my enamel so it is a perfect application process. Using this method has gotten rid of plaque unlike anything I've ever seen. Xylitol is the only sweetener and has a good flavor as well which means that you don't have any reason to choose a sugary or synthetic sweetener gum for that enjoyment. This three pack was also a good value.

I decided on this product because of the reviews. Bad mistake. After my husband and I chewed one piece of gum on Saturday, we both were nauseated on the stomach and had diarrhea the next morning, on Mother’s Day. I didn’t think anything of it until my husband had the same symptoms. I thought maybe we had food poisoning. My husband was not able to eat hardly anything nor did he chewed any gum the next day. I chewed another piece that Sunday afternoon, not associating the symptoms with the gum. Sunday afternoon, I had a terrible headache. That night, I took Tylenol for my headache so I can get some sleep. After falling asleep, I woke up a few hours later with chest pain. I knew it was gas because of the belching and the pain. I took Tums to help relieve the gas and pain. At that point, it dawned on me that it had to be the chewing gum. I remember seeing Xylitol on the bottle. I decided to do more research. To my surprise, the side effects were the symptoms I was experiencing, but for people who consume large quantities. I knew at that moment, it was the gum even though I chewed one on Saturday, day 1 and Sunday, day 2. My husband felt much better that Monday and I was feeling somewhat, but not 100% better. This is the information I researched on Xylitol: Cardiovascular Concerns: Studies have shown that high levels of xylitol may increase the risk of cardiovascular events, including heart attack and stroke. Gastrointestinal Issues: High doses of xylitol can cause diarrhea, gas, and bloating. Some individuals may experience headaches as a side effect of xylitol consumption, even if they don't chew gum. Immediately, I knew I was not going to chew any more of this gum. Going in the trash. I don’t like writing reviews, but I felt the need to after the experience my husband and I went through.
