Molenaartje Carobella Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Organic Bar 50 g (Pack of 12)

Firstly the title is misleading in stating ‘Milk Chocolate’. These are Carob bars, a kind of chocolate substitute that as a migraine sufferer who has to avoid cocoa products, serve me as an alternative to chocolate.If like me you’ve not eaten chocolate for years then Carob is a welcome treat though chocolate aficionados will never be fooled into thinking this tastes very much like their favourite treat.These bars of Carob are quite adequate as plain carob, but are sold as a Hazelnut variety and if you’re buying them looking for a nutty treat, I suspect that you’ll be very disappointed. I bought a pack of twelve bars and it is no exaggeration to state that the combined total of Hazelnut particles from all twelve bars would not amount to as much as a single decent sized hazelnut. The nut pieces really are best described as particles little more than a millimetre or so in size. They are so thinly scattered through the bars that it comes as a surprise to discover the feeling of a tiny piece of grit in your mouth when you eat a piece of Carob that actually contains one.The Carob is fine, but there is little reason to pay the additional cost of this hazelnut version, instead put the money you save towards the cost of a pack of hazelnuts.
