Purchased Sept 11 display, turn signals and horn dead by Oct 11
Scooter is cool, light and enjoyable for a little over a month. Display no longer works, will not pair to the app, turn signal, horn no longer functional. For a 1k buy, it’s a real bummer.

So light and easy to use!
My husband bought this for me for use; we live aboard our boat. I can easily pick it up to bring it on and off the boat. It folds easily as well. The scooter has three speed modes: eco, sport and drive. It’s easy to change as you’re driving so that you can push off in eco mode safely then click through the modes to increase to max speed. It’s plenty fast for my needs (my husband has a roadrunner scooter which is tough to keep up with). For the cons: it does well on smooth surfaces but no shock absorbing on rough pavement or bumps. the alarm rings, when the scooter is off, at the slightest movement of the back wheel which is fine for the control but a pain when picking it up and moving it around. I had a little bit of a struggle hooking it up to my phone so after the initial set up I haven’t used the app really at all.

Very good, with some quirks
I have never owned an e-scooter before although I've had electric bicycles and cars for about 15 years. Bought this NIU KQi Air for our son who commutes to work in his company bus from a bus stop about a mile away from home. A well made, lightweight scooter that can be easily carried in and out of the bus/office was the primary criterion and this scooter fits that perfectly. We looked around a lot online and found that scooters that had a good ride quality, speed, and range were too heavy, and the lighter scooters lacked quality, speed, or range.Of course this NIU Air also makes some compromises to bring the weight down, but the combination of 26 lb weight with 25+ mile range (in ideal conditions), 20 mph max speed, and good sized pneumatic tires at the sale price I paid at amazon was unbeatable. We have been riding it for a week and it has been great. I have also been using it for other small runs to stores, etc. Overall, we are very happy with the purchase. So why only 4 stars and not 5? Well, there are a few quirks. I think some can be fixed in software.* The switch panel that has the turn signals is on the right side next to the twist throttle. We haven't been able to use it without unintentionally jerking the throttle position. That switch panel should be on the left side next to the break lever because movement of the left hand will not affect the throttle or cause speed jerks.* The bluetooth connections for auto lock/unlock is a bit wonky at times. It works most of the time when I approach the scooter with the phone, as it is supposed to. But if I don't hit the start button right after I approach scooter and instead stand around the scooter for a few minutes, the scooter gets locked again although I'm standing right there. One way for me to recover from it is to turn off bluetooth on my phone for a sec and turn it back on again. So it is not catastrophic, but quite annoying because the bluetooth auto lock/unlock is such a great convenience feature.* The ride statistics feature of the app is wonky! It doesn't show the most recent ride stats right away. Sometimes it shows up the following day. Also, I have no idea what time zone they are using in that ride log. It is certainly not my time zone and not GMT either. It is further east than that. It makes no sense to me to see that I finished a ride tomorrow :-)* The user interface of the app could be simplified. It is not bad, but it requires too many subtle screen touches to find some things. I'd love for NIU to provide an API for the community to build a better app.* I am concerned about their support. They were very prompt in responding to my email support questions (although some answers were tangential to what I asked about), but if I have a hardware problem, I think it will be painful. I'm in the SF Bay Area. They only have retailers (Best Buy) nearby, but no repair centers. So if I have a warranty issue, I'll most likely have to ship the scooter at my own cost to some place across the country. That's going to be expensive and will result in me losing the scooter for a few weeks. So hardware service concerns me. Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't run into issues.

Not worth it
Bought it because it’s light and fast. Hate it because of the halo light you can’t turn off, the frustrating anti theft system that makes it impossible to move and the Bluetooth system that doesn’t work

buggy electronics / app
Build and ride for the Air is great. 5 stars for that. But the bluetooth capability was inconsistent for the first few days, and now no longer works. The app was a nightmare to use to pair the phone w/ the scooter. The QR code didn't work, and it took me a while to realize the alphanumeric code for manually pairing is above the QR code. Now without the bluetooth working, the pairing is useless, as the phone won't connect. There is a thread on Reddit about this issue, so it appears this is not uncommon.I am returning this unit, and will hope that the replacement is better.

Bluetooth and battery drain issues
Bluetooth mediated nfc unlocking is glitchy and doesn't always work. When it arrived the steering was out of alignment and the front brake was rubbing. The first week I could get to work and back two days in a row (12km total) and go from 80% to 40% battery. This week, second week, after 9km I am out of battery as I go to leave work and have to walk it back home.I've noticed the battery drains 5% just sitting overnight.Substandard quality for a $1000 scooter in my opinion.

A Nice Way to Get to the Corner Store
This is super fun to ride and convent to stick in a carry bag! A little rough on the legs on less smooth road though!

I can't find replacement tires
Amazing scooter, amazing technology. But one flat and that's the end of the scooter. Finding 9.5 X 2.3 tires hasn't been possible. Even NIU doesn't sell them. Sure you can find a 9.5X 2.5 tire, but NIU says that shouldn't be put on the scooter. The tires also seem have problems so it's likely you'll get a flat too.
