Enjoyable start to the series :)
3-3.5 starsThis was an enjoyable story. I like Abby and Derek and liked their story. This is the first book I've read by this author and I liked it well enough that I'd consider trying more of her work in the future.Abby is a temp at a Newspaper when the story begins but that's just the job to bring in money. Her true occupation (and love) is a belly dancing studio she took over a year ago when her teacher decided to retire. It's been tough and Abby has had a hard time making ends meet. Abby had a boyfriend but they broke up a year ago when he made her chose between him and her studio and she's been single ever since.Derek is the son of the current publisher of the newspaper he's taking over. His family actually owns other communications businesses and Derek had wanted to take part in building his family's business, specifically the newspaper. Unfortunately, by the time he got into a place where he was told the truth about how the business is fairing, things are so bad that the rest of the family wants to sell the company. Derek decides to see what he can do to stop the sale of the company before it's too late.TBH, the book description pretty much tells it all and the story is short enough that if I tell much more, it'll just end up being spoilers. I will say that the love is pretty much insta-love, one night and they're both hooked. I could understand why they both did what they did, when they did it but it was too bad that it caused issues that almost made a reunion impossible. Abby and Derek do work things out though and the story ends with a nice resolution and a HEA for Abby and Derek. This was an enjoyable story. Abby was a good heroine and I liked her. Derek was a good hero overall. He seemed like a jerk at work but considering the situation Derek found himself in, I could kind of see how he wouldn't be Mr. Nice guy at work. I'm glad he was able to figure things out and come through in the end. Overall, this was a good story with characters I liked. :)* note- I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did a pretty good job. FYI - the last 21 minutes of the audio is a preview for book #2 in the series.

Enjoyed it
This was an enjoyable story. Short but full enough to forget its a Novella. Abby definitely has multiple plates in the air, just trying to hang on. Derek has a similar problem especially after he meets " Zenina" the belly dancer. Their one night together just wasn't enough for him. "Zenina" is the brave, fearless alter ego for Abby. The minute she gets into her gear she starts feeling that freedom. She loves belly dancing. Turns out as she is hiding out from Derek, she ends up pretty good as a Master of Disguise. Here she is right under his nose, and he can't even see it. I like both of the MC's and even some of the interactions when Derek didn't know that Miss Anderson was the "one" he was looking for. Smile worthy, that's a good word for this book. Its not real, real deep but it is enjoyable to read. Its the first book in this series but there is a short look into "Dance with Me" at the end of this book. Dance with me, is in my TBR pile, since I picked it up when I saw it was free. I will be sure to post a review on this one too, just not sure when that will be.

A fun ride of friendship, a one night stand, and love; bring your own tissues.
I was very pleasantly surprised at this book and I can always use a fun read. I loved the deep friendship between Abby and Melody. Friends who can always share the good and the bad, and cheer each other up.Derek was a hottie to read about, I expected a shallow rich boy, but got a multi faceted real guy. Nice! Abby was well educated, but longed to run her dance mentor's studio. It was a dream job, and she quit pursuing her MBA, but the studio didn't pay all of the bills. Abby took a job at the local newspaper, as well as an evening job belly dancing in a bar, in order to help support the dance studio that she loved. On the one year anniversary of her break up with her ex boyfriend, Abby decided she needed a fun night, and things seemed great, but Abby didn't have a crystal ball. She decided to hook up with a handsome stranger after her belly dancing gig. And the fun begins!

Nice little story
Nothing spectacular, but not bad either. Its a story about a charismatic belly dancer who dresses mousey in an attempt to disguise herself so her boss won't find out about her other persona. Simple plotline and writing. She tells herself she's in love with her boss when she's never even had a date with him. In fact, they dont date the entire story and this probably accounts for the lack of warmth to the plot Still, its a passable story.

A great story with wonderful characters and excellent writing
Shimmy For Me is an entertaining book, and I really enjoyed reading it.This is a fun romance that I just didn't want to put down. The story is engaging, the characters quickly become your friends, and you root for them throughout; Abby is a girl you just absolutely adore, Derek is instantly familiar and real, and you end up wanting to read more and more about their increasingly complex relationship.DeAnna Cameron builds a sensual world around Zenina, Abby's alter ego, a practical world around Derek, and a passionate, emotional world around our heroine Abby. She weaves these three different characters into a cohesive whole that brims with vibrant intensity, sensuality and realism.Cameron's storytelling is captivating, her language is stimulating, and the way she paces her novella is nothing short of a beautifully choreographed dance that draws the reader deeper and deeper into the world of her very authentic characters. The reader becomes one with the dancer and the narrative. This novella is exactly the right length. It was an enjoyable easy read that I didn't want to put down. I highly recommend Shimmy For Me as an excellent introduction into the writing of Ms. Cameron.

What a shimmyagram can achieve.
Abby encounters a tall dark stranger, on a night she is determined to put demons of her old relationship behind her. A simple no names, one nightstand. Fate, of course, had other plans.Derek had the failing newspaper empire foisted on his shoulders, when his father announced that he was retiring and handing the reins of the family business to Derek. Together with a newly appointed assistant, could he save the company his grandfather had founded, from being sold to the highest bidder. Could he also solve the mystery of the belly dancer, that after one night, haunts his thoughts continuouslyThis is a great love story, of how one person, after realizing they have fallen in love, is willing to lose everything, including their own self esteem, to come to the aide of the one they love.
