Very difficult to put on

We have a Whirlpool dishwasher. These were a little hard to get on, but they seem to be staying put. We found that if you stretch them a little bit (like you would a balloon before you inflate it), they’re easier to put on. Would recommend..

did not fit over the dishwasher bits, as promised. Out of curiosity, I took them to a friend's house to try it on a different model. didn't fit on theirs either.

I can't emphasize the title enough. So, like many others, I struggled to get these on as they came (which was, of course, without any instructions whatsoever). After consulting google and confirming that yes, caps and dishrack tines all come in standard sizes and there was no chance I had ordered the wrong thing, I did what a few other reviews have mentioned and put them in warm water first. It helped a bit, but not a lot, and here's what I found to be the best process through a lot of trial and error: - Keep a small pot of water *just* at boiling on the stove. - Toss a handful of the caps in and wait 10-15 seconds. - Using tongs or tweezers, pick one cap out of the boiling water and give it a quick shake to empty the water inside. (If you miss the brief window to put it on a tine and it cools, pop it back in the water.) - Quickly slide it onto a tine using a spiral/twisting motion all the way down, like screwing on a bottlecap. The twisting is important - not only does it help it get all the way down before it cools, but if you don't, the cap can get bunched up along the way and you'll have to try and either smooth it out of pull it off to re-do it. - When you've used up the ones in the pot, toss in another handful and repeat. Once I had that system in place, it was like night and day, and I got my *entire* bottom rack re-covered in under five minutes. The caps are SO much easier to work with when they're the consistency of a thick water balloon, especially if you have some tines that are misshapen from the coat peeling and/or rust swelling up (I had a few). That's why I went with four stars - there's nothing wrong with the actual product, but it was way too frustrating for what it is and I wasted a lot of time (and a few of the caps) due to the complete lack of useful instructions.

I'm in the process of installing them, and running into the challenges others have noted. I tried several of the suggested solutions, and they helped some, but not a bunch. What I came up with was to take a dowel (maybe a half inch diameter or more, but a half inch is plenty sufficient and was what I had on hand) and I drilled a hole in the end, not quite as deep as the sleeves. The 7/32" bit was the right size, so it was close to tight, but still didn't try to pull the sleeves off again when I pull the dowel off. So I put the sleeve on as far as I could get it (about a quarter inch) and then put the dowel over it and push with that, which keeps it collapsing off to the side and it is quick and simply to push on. They look nice, but I haven't run any dishes yet with it, so not much more to report.
