It is beautiful with a nice size margin
I’ve use this devotional various times over the last several years. The daily lessons are really solid. This version is found beautifully and a full leather cover. It is a thin book and therefore the print is a little bit on the smaller side, but not terrible for me with my 3.0 readers. There are really size margins for notetaking, but there are no lines to write on. I bought this for personal use, but it would make a beautiful gift as well. I do think the $34 price tag is a little bit steep, but I had a specific reason for wanting it without price shopping.

Great Tool
I, typically, do not like to use devotionals. Often times, I find, devotional books are more shallow in their approach to Scripture. This one is different. There have only been a couple days during the past month when I found the daily reading did not hit home for me. These daily devotionals focus on what is really important rather than getting caught up with trivial things. The readings are more about what we should think than necessarily about what we should do. Paul David Tripp does a great job of thinking deeply and helping readers engage with the Bible and with God. As I talk to others, I find myself quoting things from this book all the time. I have found it helpful to highlight certain points and to write a general topic on the top of each reading's page. This helps remind me of what was important so I can easily look back at it. Each reading directs the reader to a Bible passage or at times part of a reading will be a direct quote from God's Word. There is a Scripture Index at the back of the book (like all Crossway books) but no general index in this one. I have used this a few times to find the author's thoughts on a passage I'm studying. I'm also adding those topic headings that I write at the top of each page to a more topical index that I'm creating at the back of the book.I love the quality feel of the soft leather (not sure if it's real or not) cover. Except for the width, the dimensions of the book are larger than my ESV Study Bible. The large margins are a great place to add a few notes or symbols.

Daily Gospel, challenge, & application
The media could not be loaded. As I’ve grown in my walk with God, I’ve come to find I’m at my best when I’m constantly engaged in relationship with Him. Just like any relationship, you need to invest and constantly communicate in order to grow and know Him better. For me, that means constant prayer, a Christ-centered community, and daily Bible reading and devotional. If I stray from any of these, I’m so likely to return back to my old ways.So for my daily reading, of course there’s no substitute for the Bible itself and reading God’s Word directly. But in addition to daily Bible reading, a daily devotional can really help me see scripture with another perspective, grow in new ways, and start my day off with a Christ-centered attitude.Which is why I treasure this New Morning Mercies daily devotional. It’s not only scripture driven at its core, but it also challenges you daily, and encourages application. So the Christ-centered life doesn’t stop when the reading stops, we need to apply what we learn and share with others throughout our days. This 365 day devotional encourages me if I’m down and motivates when I’m content, so I’m in the right frame of mind as I head out. A wonderful workbook for an entire year. And I don’t see anything wrong with starting back at the beginning once finished. Definitely something worth repeating, so take plenty of notes to share with yourself next time! Please note: My review is part of Amazon's Vine Program which provides products at a reduced cost in exchange for honest, accurate reviews. Luxury printing, ideal for notetakers
It's been 10 years since New Morning Mercies was first published (2014), and it continues to be a popular devotional. This new edition has exactly the same text — there is not even an updated Introduction or Foreword or anything — but the content is delivered up in a more luxurious and functional package.First of all, this edition is wrapped within an imitation leather binding. It certainly doesn't feel as nice as true leather, but it looks and feels like it belongs next to your Bible. Most significantly, there's a large margin (1.5 inches) on the outside edge of each page to support note taking. I also think they used a more premium paper for this edition, probably to help ensure that your ink doesn't bleed through. The overall look & feel is very nice, and this would make a great edition to give as a gift. The devotionals themselves are as good as they were 10 years ago. Each entry is 1 page (or slightly less) and written in a very accessible style. You do not need a Bible degree or theological training to understand what's written here. Most entries are a solid mix of challenging and encouraging, and all entries conclude with a scripture reference for further study on the topic of the day. This is an ideal devotional for someone who's just beginning to study the Word daily, as they'll be able to read each entry (and probably the scripture reference too) in under 7 minutes.
