Perfect weight, handle length for control, and price.
I only use a hard rubber mallet on non-business end backside, for example, to start peel of log bark. Hitting the backside with steel would probably damage or possibly crack the head.

Dangerous and brittle
I want to start with the fact that I have used axes for years im not new to them and ive used plenty of different kinds and sizes. The axe seemed to be a nice deal and when I got it in the mail I was excited, however after unpacking it I realized that it has no sharpness and that it is extremely brittle. The head is secured by glue and a small divit in the wood, it is not secured at all well and when I took it out of the packaging the head flew off. after inspecting the handle there was no damage to it simply the axe head is to heavy for the strain it puts on the bond. If I had been swinging that axe at something that head flying off could seriously injure of kill someone so I am extremely upset that it was made so poorly. I am returning the item and I hope to get my money back so I can go buy something that will actually be SAFE.

Great for camping!
I was in need of an axe for camping for wood chopping but also to get those stakes in for my tent! This does the job so far :-) Might not be the strongest but for the few times I need it, it will do the job :-)

The Axe Head came off three 4th session.
I love the wooden handle and the weight was great.I use it to split kindling from seasoned fire wood. Very light weight duty. The 4th session find the head flying off the handle and revealed that the wax or glue used to hold it on is not all that great. Since I set a fire about once a week, I've only used it 4 times. Unfortunately, this happened 4 days after the return window closed.I'll use a flat piece of metal Aug a 2 inch #8 screw through the top to see if I can get it to stay. If not, the glue or wax they've used will need to be cleaned out so I can pound in a metal wedge.I've not had to sharpen it yet, so can't report on how it holds an edge.
