Narex 852100 3 Piece Set Japanese Style Dovetail Chisels 1/4", 1/2", 3/4"

Great product for the price. And a good product regardless. Only the bevel at the top was slightly askew, but otherwise it is a NICE set

I think these chisels are great, I have been using them for about a year now. Sharp! Hold an edge nicely. The box they come in is nice too!

Bought these because I have long been interested in the Japanese chisel design, but didn't want to break the bank with top-of-the-line alternatives. I assume the steel is good quality (it can be honed razor sharp and holds an edge pretty well, even in rock maple). Two of the three chisels were nice and symmetrical but the third was WAY OFF. Whover was on the line that day must have been thinking about something else. The ridge on the back was off center and not particularly straight, and the hollow was off kilter as well. I can use the chisel, but it looks like the amateur hour compared to the other two. All three needed to be sharpened and honed, but that's not surprising. The box they come in is nice (although I'll probably make a dovetail box for them pretty soon, after all...

I was looking for some dovetail chisels that could handle hard mallet blows in hard wood! I tried true Japanese chisels and quickly realized the soft steel would not hold up. The traditional Japanese woodworkers use mostly soft wood. I found this set of 3 Narex dovetail chisels and decided to test them out. The came sharp and only required about 10 minutes of cleaning up to get started. Needed to remove the tool laquer and touch up the edge on a fine stone. After that I spent 3 hours chopping out tails with nothing more than hitting a strop to hone the edge. The fit and finish on these are good but not great. If you're like me and only care how it performs, i highly recommend them!

I have been working to get back into woodworking after a number of years out of it. I have been practicing cutting dovetails with my set of Irwin Marples and I was never able to get them sharp enough so I started looking for replacements and found these! I absolutely love them! It took me no time at all to get them what I like to call scary sharp and cutting dovetails is now a joy!

Compre estos formones porque quiero practicar las uniones de cola de milano, ya tengo un conjunto de formones narex así que supuse que estos formones iban a ser de buena calidad, pero debo decir que son aún mejores de hecho ni siquiera tuve que afiliarlos solo retire el recubrimiento con que vienen(una especie de barniz) y asenté el filo, así nada más lo probé en un trozo de encino y la manera en que cortan el material sin prácticamente nada de esfuerzo me sorprendio. No estoy seguro de si sean aptos para devastar grandes trozos de madera y no pienso averiguarlo, me quedaré con las tareas para lo que los compre. Excelente vendedor en trato y seguimiento. Los recomiendo al 100%

These chisels don't hole their edge long have to touch them up too often. Get what you pay for.

the chisels were ready to go. didnt lose edge easily, and did even better upon sharpening.
