Great gift/travel accessory
The device is small and sleek and keeps the battery charged along. It's very useful if you don't know the language or just want a better communicate in a foreign country. My husband was able to just press the button say what he wanted to ask and then it easily responded. Everyone was always amazed every time we pulled it out and used it because it was so convenient and easy rather than struggling to figure out what was being said or asked. It did a good job of translating accurately! I would definitely buy again or gift it to someone going out of country!

I am disappointed
The media could not be loaded. The translator arrived in very bad shape, there is a dent on the case, it doesn’t work, you constantly have to reboot the device! I don't recommend it, a waste of money!

International B&B approved
I run a medium-term rental Bed and Breakfast near Washington DC and a few miles from a Navy base, so I get guests who are from all over the world. My tenants usually stay for 1-6 months at a time (usually over the summer) due to government/military assignments, so it is important that I be able to communicate effectively.I recently purchased this device in anticipation of some guests from Japan, and let me tell you this is a game changer for me.It's so easy to use in Offline mode that I was able to send it with one of my guests (the one who needed it the most) as she toured the Smithsonian and Arlington National Cemetery with her husband and toddler daughter. She took it shopping, and on a tour through Richmond too. She was very grateful and found it incredibly helpful. Her and I have been able to cook together on several occasions as well, despite barely sharing any common language. I've learned tempura, sushi, shiitake custard, soups, endless okra, etc. And I've taught her many American and European dishes like chili and cornbread, meatloaf burgers, or fresh homemade ravioli. This translator made a true friendship possible between two women from wildly different worlds.A few (very minor) caveats:This cannot translate cultural references and idioms, obviously. Try to speak very literally if you want to be more fully understood. Ideally, both parties would be earnestly committed to understanding each other.Slow down. Enunciate. Be unambiguous.Don't go all-in for paragraphs at a time. 2-3 sentences at a time is ideal. Each party should read their own message for accuracy and re-record if it's not right. Even if the device has already started "talking" it will stop and "listen" again if you push and hold the button as usual for recording.TLDR: I love this thing, and even though I've got a minimally functional smattering of German and Spanish, I'd feel a lot better about hopping on a Space A flight with my homeschooled teenagers and touring Europe if I had this device in my pocket the whole time. This thing is giving me IDEAS.
