Viva Naturals Organic Psyllium Husk Powder, 10 oz - Finely Ground, Unflavored...

We give psyllium to my five year year-old every day in his yogurt so he poops every day and poop won’t be hard. Previously we were using some we’d had for a really long time which worked well, but once we ran out, I got this stuff and it is awesome! It’s more finely ground, and it actually taste pleasant like I’ve tried it mixed in water, and I expected it to be gross and it was not at all, kind of a pleasant taste. This stuff is great, you won’t regret it!

This is super finely ground which is nice if you like to bake or mix it in other things. I love that it is organic and easy to store and seal. It is super effective, a good value, easy to store and has no smell really. It's a good size and I feel a good value.

This works so much better than anything else my husband has used for his serpentine colon. It works well within 24 hours. We use our coffee frother to really blend the husk so it doesn't clump. It is a natural remedy that truly helps bowel movements.

Don’t be afraid to use. I took a Tablespoon to 8 oz coffee mug with cold water mixed with a fork, I don’t panic rush to drink it because the powder is so fine, I just mix it for a few seconds and drink it. I was constipated for a good week before drinking it and it worked moved my bowels effectively. No smell, no aftertaste, ease of use. **added later: its sealed pouch isn’t sealing because the glue was so ineffective one side of the seal became totally undone—last night I just noticed this so I put the entire package into a gallon ziplock bag to store. So I’m giving it 4 instead of 5 stars. Otherwise great value, the color is as depicted, great daily if you need. It’s keeping me regular without giving me cramps or diarrhea. **added later: I put a tablespoon in my chocolate whey protein shake with about 8 oz or more of water and left in the fridge overnight. I’m loving it it’s like drinking a loose chocolate pudding very filling.

Product arrived on-time and in perfect condition. One reviewer said press-together bag seal didn't work. It worked fine for me. Now to the great part: This stuff really works! I heard about psyllium husk powder generically from The DoctorsTV show. They said it was life-changing because it makes for "perfect poop" (sorry about their "grossness", but quick, easy, one-wipe poops) and because this soluble fiber is actually a carbohydrate, research has shown it can help prevent type 2 diabetes. Well, the Doc's were spot on with their gross facts. The results were nothing short of amazing, starting in 24 to 36 hours. I used warm tap water instead of cold, and mixing was no problem at all. Package directions do not say timing relative to meals, but google says drink about two hours before each meal. Start with just serving per day though. Stir several seconds and drink immediately. There's a very slight and palatable flavor to this pure psyllium husk drink, which has no artificial sweeteners nor flavoring added. I only wish I had found out about this many years ago. Life-changing for sure. Update: 3 months later, supply ran out so I bought this again. The second, identically labeled package was not same as first (inconsistent product quality) in that it absolutely would not mix by stirring with very warm water. It had undissolvable clumps every time I tried. I have to use an immersion blender to make it mix. Other than that everything was the same with this product. Previously, on my first order three months ago, I could mix this by spoon, stirring, with very warm water and then drink. My point in updating this review is not to discourage you from buying this. Just know that one time you buy it you can stir it with a spoon and another time you buy it you must have an immersion blender handy. I hope when I buy this for the third time it no longer requires an immersion blender.

I was skeptical, as usual, in trying a new brand (of anything). This was less expensive than what i was normally getting at the grocery store, but after i looked at the ingredients of the fiber supplement i had in my cabinet & saw that it had aspartame in it, i started looking for something else. I used to take this supplement when i wasn't getting enough fiber in my food, but then i tried a different diet type & decided to stop for a while. A long while later, & now with personal reference points, i decided to go back to taking the daily recommended amount of fiber & carbs. I wasn't getting them through diet alone at the moment, & i remembered i had the metamucil in my cabinet still. I started taking it for a few weeks, & getting my intestines used to it, & decided to go back over the ingredients. I thought i had done a decent job before, but apparently i missed that the metamucil had aspartame in it (which I've read bad things about), so i decided to search for an alternative. This product was highly recommended by Amazon (Amazon choice, great reviews, etc), so i decided to try it. This honestly tastes like i expect dirt to taste, which sounds bad, but honestly it's really easy to drink as long as you dissolve it completely. The orange flavor style of metamucil that i had in my cabinet for a while would completely dissolve with a slow stir in room temperature tap water. This, i have to stir really fast, & for a longer amount of time, for it to completely dissolve. That's not a huge deal for me, personally, though. It definitely does what it's intended to do, it has no added filler that's horrible for me, & is quite a bit less expensive than alternatives that I've tried. If mixed with smoothies or anything in a blender, it's basically unnoticeable. I prefer just to stir in tap water & down it with my meals, because it's much quicker, & there's basically no cleanup required. If you want a less expensive fiber supplement that works like it's supposed to, that doesn't have lots of unnecessary added filler (much of which isn't good for us, when you research those ingredients), this is perfect, IMO. It can be tasteless if added to any other food & blended, but it also works well just mixed with tap water (as long as you stir quickly & make sure it's completely dissolved).
