Q: Why is the keystone test ok, but as soon as I attach it into the patch panel, I get split wiring? Can someone help?

After attaching the keystone to the wire. it is advised to perform a pinout continuity test. to validate full end-to-end continuity of the cable with connectors and correct pin connections. If this tests ok but fails after the keystone is installed in the panel then wires are either not secure or the contacts damaged.. I'm not sure what you mean by "split wiring"?

Q: Do these come with the 3M 1181 copper tape to use on the drain wire?

Q: is there insulation on the inside of the case halves so the wires don't short to the inside of the case?

Yes there is a plastic film that helps insulate the halves. Regardless, care should be taken to make sure that the wires are cut to the correct length. This is a good terminator, don't worry about it, just follow the instructions, and you should be fine.

Q: Do the keystones support poe or poe+?

Yes, these TrendNet keystone jacks support both POE and POE+ I have been using these with high current drawing PTZ cameras with high intensity IR lights for a few years now with no issues. Make sure you use a larger gauge CAT cables for the POE+ runs - use 23 or 24 AWG gauge cabling, 23 being the bigger internal copper wire size inside the cable . Avoid any wire using smaller (26 to 30 AWG) when using POE+ to avoid voltage drops and unstable device operation.
