Q: Does the smoke detector have both photoelectric and ionization sensors?

This model has ionization and CO sensors. The specs page on their website says "Smoke: Ionization, CO: Electrochemical". So it doesn't have photoelectric, but has the other 2. I'm not sure why there is no triple alarm.

Q: Can this unit be used to replace the hard wired smoke detector in my home?

This is model KN-COSM-BA. It is not hardwired to AC, not interconnected, and is primarily powered by battery. The model KN-COSM-IBA is hardwired (110 AC for power), interconnected to the other detectors in the home, and uses the battery for backup power.

Q: How frequently do we need to change the batteries? ?

I bought one in 2012. I have changed the batteries once, about five years ago. Thought it was due for a change now but it has reached the end of its ten-year "life" after seven years. To be fair, the sticker indicates it was manufactured in April of 2010, so it was on a shelf for two years, making it nine years old.
