Works perfectly, you have a happy camper here.
I run a rather complex installation here and with the threat of a smart meter appearing here I wanted a long hard look at the power factor. If you do not know what a power factor means, do skip this bit. If you do know, the TUYA app , together with the PC311-W-TY-2CT, seems to read this perfectly. Not only that, Voltage, frequency and consumption in KWh are recorded on the App, which is a free download from the App store. I will review this unit in more detail later, but sofar ? I AM IMPRESSED. Trust me, at 80 years old, that takes some doing and yr kit be better dammed good if you want to see 5 stars. Am very surprised to see ONLY 2 UK reviews. Why oh Why ?? One thing to note: The unit needs to be able to reach your router. it will NOT work on a 5GHz link so make sure that you connect on a 2.4 link. The distance between your router and the PC311 will deterimine how good (or bad) your connection will turn out to be. Another point to note: the direction of the ARROW on the CT (Current Transformer) is important, the CT is BI-DIRECTIONAL. Read the very sumier set up instructions. Finally, Do not buy this unit if you are uncomfortable with installing or working on electrical equipment. Yr CT will have to be connected to your LIVE line to be able to function. it does not matter WHICH live, what YOU want to measure will dedicate where it goes. PLEASE REMEMBER: Electricity CAN AND WILL KILL, if misused. In summary: It works great and for now... I am as happy as Larry. Albert. UPDATE: HAVE NOW 3 OF THEM IN USE. For the price, these units cannot be beaten. BTW... The latest smart meters can track your power factor. This unit will show it to you, so you know what you are up against. It is therefore important that you know and understand ACTIVE, REACTIVE AND APPARENT POWER. if u do not, I suggest you read up on what these mean, AND HOW THEY AFFECT >YOUR < ELECTRICITY BILL!!! UPDATE: 26 October 2024. Folks, WHY IS IT That we stupid humans always want more ?? In my search for ever better and more usage data on our installation, I ended up at Owen Brothers Metering in the UK. NOW, HOLD ON: This is for SERIOUS folks, these people have been in the Metering business since the 1950'ties. NOW, PLEASE NOTE: Their stuff is for the SERIOUSLY MINDED AMONGST YOU. Please, if you just want Active Power, Voltage and Current AND THE ALL IMPORTANT POWER FACTOR. Stick with the Above. BUT IF YOU WANT MORE, and a LOT MORE, head over to the Owen Brothers site,. But again, I ask you to heed my words... you are now heading into the realm of SERIOUS measurements. PLEASE ask yourself this question, Do you need this data >? Really? Ok if you do, if not stick with the Tuya and OWON stuff, It will give you an instantaneous reading of how your installation is behaving. Please, give this some serious thoughts. I run an animal welfare charity here, so my needs are probably very different than yours. As you will have figured out by now.. the POWER FACTOR is vitally important to me. IN SUMMARY: ONLY go to Owen Brothers Metering IF YOU NEED >MORE.< If your needs are basic, DO NOT NOT waste yr money. The OWON units , in combination with the TUYA app, are perfect for your basic needs. I have three of them in use so should have a reasonable idea by now. Albert

Current clamps too small
I'll start with the installation. To power the unit the instructions tell you to wire it to a socket. Well, what does that mean? It's unsafe to wire it to the back of a socket as there's no indication that the unit itself is fused. So I just wired it into a standard plug with a 3A fuse fitted. The other safety consideration is the exposed terminal block, so I'm going to tape over the exposed terminal screws. The clamps just about fit the meter tails, but not the newer wiring to the solar fusebox, so they could do with being slightly larger. Once it was powered up linking it to the app and WiFi was straightforward. I'm not sure how accurate it is yet, time will tell. I bought the double clamp version — one to monitor the incoming mains (import/export) and the other to monitor solar panel generation. However, the app doesn't have enough functions for me. There's no way to remove the solar panel output from being added to the total export display. I just ignore the total because it will always be wrong But all in all it's a good little device, but it's a shame that the instructions aren't clearer on the actual mains wiring. There's a circuit diagram but it doesn't spell out exactly to connect it to the mains. It would be better if it came fitted with a 13A plug.

Not sure if its accurate yet.
Easy to install and app works fine. I am not sure of its accuracy, as it is currently registering approx. half the daily usage compared to what my smart meter is registering. I am having my smart meter investigated by energy provider to see whether it is incorrect as our bills are high. I will update this review once I know whether this device works accurately or if in fact my smart meter is correct.

Very effective device for the price
I'm using it to monitor an Airsource system. This is helping to streamline the central heating plan, by visualising usage peaks and separating the heating usage from other house electric consumer items.. The user interface could do with some more development, although the App it uses has recently been upgraded and it's now possible to download data. However it still would benefit from some more features in the app, such as a cost parameters. Overall a very neat and well priced simple monitoring device.

Easy to install
Purchased this to intigrate with home assistant. Installed the unit into the back of a plug socket that was already wired into the my distrubuition board. No issues as the unit is designed for AC 240v. I would rcommend using a 2-core flex from wickes or such like as the cable provided breaks easily when bending the cable to wire it. A part from that was easy set up to the Tuya app. Home assitant requires a little more work as it does not display all the values like current power draw only the total energy use over the week/month etc.

Does everything I need it to
The network connection is solid, it's small and with some work it connects to other platforms such as Home Assistant.

Great product and support
Easily added to Tuya, I’ve also been able to link this to home assistant and local Tuya; the company which manufactures this has been able to provide a definition of the data points. Very impressed with the sensor and with the cost. You do need an electrician to install this though. But that’s a local regulation though.

Works OK but app is really limited
This device was quite easy to set up and configure using the app, bluetooth and your home wifi. The problem is with the app - it's very limited in storing information and you cannot download usage data. It updates every 10 seconds or so so you can see real time power and energy usage but looking at historical data for a day shows only samples every hour and a curiously smooth curved line between the data points. You cant zoom the graphs to get a close up of the data. Tuya really should do a better job of the interface or at least provide an API so third parties can implement something better.
