Hard to fathom the packet instructions for a nice meaty shami. Figuring out how much & weather to fully soak the lentils & also the quantity of water to add is very vague.

I read a random review about Shan somewhere, decided to see if our Amazon carries it. True to their word as the biggest Indian e-commerce site, they had this rare masala. I ordered this along with five other Shan products. I am elated at how good the kababs have turned out. This was exactly like one amazing Shami Kabab i had at a muslim friend's home. Spectacular. This masala brings out a deep flavor from the meat and the lentils, that cannot be described. It only has to be tried. I deep-fried the kababs since I was unable to get the grinding consistency right (too fine) but then, it was still amazing! Deep flavor, rich taste of spices and kabab, not too hot, but perfect accompaniment for everything from Rotis to Sambar rice. I urge you to just blindly buy this and try it as instructed on the package. If you have loved Shami Kabab and wish to make it yourself, this is THE BEST way to do so. Check the picture out! - Yes, i know that there are a few lentils intact :( Grinding didn't go to plan. But next time it'll be perfection. Point to note : To make 1 kg of meat for Shami, you need to use the entire packet.
