Useful features that wired version doesn't have. Poor signal with no indicator.
Finally, heatmiser has a wiring centre that has creepage and pump delay! Very strange that these 2 very useful features aren't on the wired versions of UH8!The goods:Creepage Protection - it will operate the valve and pump output (but not boiler) everyday for a minute if it hasn't been activated without the last 24hr. This helps prevent valve body sticking, which happened to me with the valve for the guest room. JG wiring centre also has this feature and I think it is brilliant.Pump delay - when a zone thermostat calls for heat, the UH8RF can delay calling boiler/pump for 2 minutes to allow the electrothermic actuator to open up the valve. This means you don't need a pressure bypass valve in the pipe work.Din rail mounting - another improvement over last generation of heat miser wiring centresCut outs for wiring - much better to have these cut outs on the casing that you can easily pop out to route the wires. The old wiring centres, you'd have to drill.LED indicators for engaged zones, boiler, pump ...etc is also a plus over the old wiring centres.Individual Radiator zone - They don't tell you anywhere on the manual or website, but when a NeoAir is set as 'radiator' and it calls for heat, the UH8RF will enable the boiler AND the zone's actuator too!! I have a combi boiler output to a 6 port manifold with 4 ports to room radiators and 1 port to a UHF manifold/pump. I don't need 2 wiring centres because a single UH8RF can do it all and with creepage protection! The not so good:Weak reception of RF signal - This is terrible. The NeoAir really struggles to communicate to the wiring centre if on a different floor! To make matters worse, unlike the wired NeoStat, the battery operated NeoAir CANNOT relay RF (to wiring centre) nor Zigbee (to NeoHub) signals! I have added a fairly long antenna through the small SMA connector to the UH8RF but it hasn't improved. It looks like I need to buy NeoPlug or Neo Boost to repeat the signals. Heatmiser says they recommend a repeater device per floor, that's additional expense that you need to consider! No connection indicator - Given the weak RF reception with NeoAir, the UH8RF gives NO indication if any thermostat is connected (but not calling for heat). You'll have to make a NeoAir call for heat and check if the LED is on. The NeoAir doesn't tell you it is connected to the UH8RF either, nor does it say anything about connection status via NeoHub. Pretty poor all round, given the next point...Cannot mix with wired NeoStat - You can only use NeoAir, you can mix NeoStat that hardwires into the UH8RF. That means you can't utilise a NeoStat to relay signal where you can conveniently run a fixed wire from wiring centre to the thermostat. This must be quite a reasonably common case at least for the same floor where the UH8RF is.
