Don't Waste Your Pretty: The Go-to Guide for Making Smarter Decisions in Life & Love

I really wish I had read the reviews before I purchased this, but I like Demetria and have her first book and enjoyed it but this ..no. Its nothing but a best of her ask questions. While thats fine and dandy thats not what it was promoted as (smartly bc who would buy that) and its not what I expected. Part of what made her first book so great was the personal stories and voice. Don't get me wrong Im not saying it had to be a repeat but she shines most in her voice. The quick paragraphs that intro another rounds of questions is where this book shines. Yes, I know her answering the questions IS her voice, but its not coherent, no flow, no full meat ..think of this book and answering questions as a bunch of sides. Its just answering questions.While the advice she gives is great and you could learn a lot if you are just being introduced to her but, there is nothing new in this book that you wouldn't know if you follow her social media accounts. If you follow her, all of this has been said time and time again. I even have memories of some of these questions (and not the big ones either such as that saga with the guy asking someone else to a work function) I'm talking minor ones too. Im also just not a fan of a BOOK of questions and answers. "Why is the sky blue?" "The sky is blue because thats how God made it" next question. As opposed to the sky is blue to inspire us and see the vast possibilities etc etc continuing on..get my drift. Hard to finish..very hard because no continuity. Ill continue to support her but next book I'm definitely reading the reviews first to get a better idea of what exactly is the format of the book because sadly this just is not my cup of tea and wasted my money

As a fan of Belle in Brooklyn and a follower of Demetria's life and career I thought the book was a great read. Initially I was disappointed it was Q & A style, but after only a few pages I appreciated it. I felt like this was an expansion of the infamous "AskFM" questions, where I thought her answers were too short. The questions cover who to date all the way to meeting the in-laws. It's great that the questions are from real ppl- reminds of the things that come up in relationships. Overall definitely a great read!

I have never been into relationship advice books, I thought they were all stuffy, gave unrealistic advice and were subjective. Not this book! After focusing on career and busting my arse to get through my apprentice years, I'm finally in a space to open myself and my life up to dating and love, and this book came out, so I decided to go for it. I don't have much time for anything these days, but somehow made time to finish this in 3 days (even pushing client work to the side a few times!) Real, raw, non-judgmental, sharp and REALISTIC! I had no healthy relationships modeled for me growing up, and I learned so many HEALTHY lessons and habits. Must read for anyone dating, in a relationship or married.

Good book loved the topics discussed.

Book's condition was BETTER than expected! I would rate it as Like New...basically new and it shipped fast. Definitely a great purchase!

I was really excited to get Mrs. Lucas' most recent work. I was actually going to order several copies to serve as gifts to some of my girlfriends for Christmas. My Spirit told me to read it first. I am so happy that I did. This is not really a guide, but instead a book full of questions answered by Mrs. Lucas. Many of the questions have been already addressed on her website. This was a disappointment for me as I was looking for more of her guidance in the form of a narrative.....not necessarily a question / answer session. I could easily go to her website for free to get what is offered in this book. I am a fan of Mrs. Lucas' and will continue to support he; however this was a disappointment for me. Thank goodness I read it prior to giving it as gift.

It's not what I expected. I felt like the author just took a bunch of her ask.fm questions and published them. The book is over 300 pages of "Dear Demetria What should I do?" and a couple pages of her personal experiences. The couple pages of her personal experiences were usually given in the beginning of a paragraph. I am a big fan of the author, so I was really excited when the book came out and was super excited to buy it and support her. This is not one of her best works. I felt like all of this information was free on her ask.fm website. The book has a great title and "concept", but I feel like it failed on delivery.

This was exactly what I expected from this author. It is a go to guide. Q & A format. If you’re looking for a story like A Belle in Brooklyn, you’ll be disappointed.

Disappointing not half as engaging as Belle in Brooklyn, I couldnt wait to get this book following Belle, big let down. Q&A on relationships ....really Demetria!

Great book with informative, straight to the point advice. I finished it within a week, definitely worth a read!
