Hi I'm a size 7 & I bought the large which you cut to size & 7 was the lowest to cut. So a small should be ok for your size 5.5/6 & it's clearly marked on the insole for you to cut.

I have mine in my work boots. Make them 10 times more comfortable and these are the best insoles I have tried and are lasting well.
